Guest abovetherim Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 The parade of early commitments continued for the sophomore class at Chipola. Mario Edwards and Skyler Williams have become the fifth and sixth players to verbally commit to four-year schools. Edwards, a 6’3 guard from Massiollon, Ohio, has decided to play his next two seasons at Coastal Carolina for coach Cliff Ellis. Williams will play next season at Lamar under coach Steve Roccaforte. Ellis, a former Chipola assistant coach, has amassed 534 career Division I wins, ranking him 47th of all time on the NCAA win list. "Mario really has a great chance to go in and play right away for Coastal next season,†said Chipola coach Greg Heiar. “Coach Ellis and Coach (Raheem) Waller did a great job of making him feel at home and really sold him on the up-and-coming Coastal Carolina program.â€Edwards is averaging 8.5 points and 2.9 assists per game for the 4-0 Indians. He also received interest from Louisiana-Monroe.Williams, who is sitting this year out after tearing his ACL in the season opening win over Truett-McConnell, averaged 4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game as a freshman."Skyler will really get a chance to see the game played from a different perspective this season while sitting out,†said Heiar. “He brings a lot of versatility to the floor by playing the 1-3 positions.â€Williams also received interest from New Orleans, Eastern Illinois, and Georgia Southern.
NewCardinal Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Hope Shyler can overcome the ACL injury in time for next season. I saw some video of him playing football. He is a tough guy who is a great athlete.
