It's about avoiding lightning delays. A lightning strike within 5 miles of a stadium causes a minimum 30 minute delay. Any strike within that 30 minute delay resets the clock. This is UIL policy. It is nealy a 3 hour bus ride for Montgomery and to make that drive on friday and then cancel to Saturday would be a big disadvantage fo them.
