I think the WOS community has greatly underestimated the effect that Hall of Fame Coaching has had over there… not just in terms of Xs and Os, but also in regards to player development. That steady pipeline of D1 athletes just dried up without a HOF coach to develop them.
You can’t just replace that with some dude that went to school at WOS. The truth is that there isn’t anybody out there that can replicate the past. If Toby was the answer, he’d be stacking up trophies where he is. He’s not, and he won’t if he comes back to Orange, either.

There are only a handful of coaches capable of doing what’s been done in WOS, and none of them are interested in a potential opening at WOS.

Sorry boys, it’s over.

No sir we have not underestimated the HOF coaches. Thats why we have such high standards. Standards that weren’t match by the hiring process.

Toby's been running the same style as WOS and is having success with it. Its hard going up against Aledo in the 1st round without the talent we have. But he is not just some dude that played here. And he's not someone who apparently thought it better to institute new everything. On a whim his first year staff knew more than the previous one.

Whether or not he would've won the trophys his first year, we don't know. We do know he would've continued the traditions we have grown accustomed to. And had more community support. And kept the kids in our district. If we had made the wrong choice, we'd own it. Will they?

I heard the post game interview. Aww shucks things happen. You know

Come on man. You know it's not over. Don't lie to yourself thinking BC gonna get us one of these days.

It’s the toughness and discipline above all else IMO that always made WOS what they were.    They rarely beat themselves, never played selfishly, committed ignorant penalties, and were as unorganized in week 11 as they were week 1.

That comes from leadership, and the kids believing and all buying into the same cause.

After 40 years, much of that is gone.   You don’t witness those kids acting like that on the field and on the sideline, if they believed and were all-in for this staff.

They know they were under prepared and much of the time out schemed.   They still have the horses, but the best horses still have to have training, and someone giving them direction.

You’d think that when the HC position became available, there would have been a plethora of coaches applying, but coaches talk to one another and they knew the toxic atmosphere the sup and some in the community created here.

You are correct, he is.

We have the nice head sets for everybody on the sideline to talk to each other but why? The coordinators are all right there together and not in the press box like they should be to read the opponent’s o/d..I don’t get that at all
