7-14-6-12 Cuero scoring per quarter

The entire game is on the Cuero YouTube Channel “Cuero ISD Live” if anyone wants to see it  and truthfully it wasn’t as close as the score even indicates.🤷‍♂️ Truth… I’m not going to sugarcoat what happened Friday. HF was beat in every aspect of the game and if Cuero would of cleaned up the penalties it could have been a much higher score for the Gobblers and HF may have scored once

Silsbee has only given up 2 offensive touchdowns the entire playoffs. The other 2 were kick off returns with one last night being after the game was 60-14. In rain storms we have scored 34, 34, and 60.

I saw the first season Beaumont Westbrook beat LD BELL in a state championship game in the Astrodome.  Westbrook had Jerry Ball playing fullback. I think their QB was named Landry. And they had a speedy half back, whose name I don’t recall.

I saw Jerry Ball play for Hebert back in the 1980 playoffs.  He was a Soph.  Still have the program.

These two couldn't be closer, ranked side by side.  It could come down to the one who scores last wins.

I assume Silsbee will spend a good bit of time this week working on kickoff coverage.

Im sure they will, but last kick return, was mostly freshman in, getting to play. And the biggest thing is,dont kick it to the guy going to TEX T. lol

Cuero D is led by our linebackers

Burks 236 tackles 18.2 tpg

Patek 206 tackles 15.8 tpg

Maxpreps has Burks #1 leading the Nation in tackles and Patek listed as #5 both are blue collar hard nosed football players. Burkes is returning 1st team all state and Patek is a junior and should be leading the Cuero D again next year

Thanks for the stats AAW and GMGKSA.

In Silsbee, you have a RB averaging just over a first down per carry and a WR averaging 23.6 per catch.  That is quite impressive. Some of the other players mentioned above are high quality as well.

Interesting to look back and see how close some district games were for Silsbee. For those of you that watched games by the top teams in district 9, consider yourself entertained.  A team with stats like this normally demolishes a district.

Good luck young men from Silsbee and enjoy the ride fans.

Silsbee had 2 close district games. Silsbee also had 3 or 4 games this year where the offense only played maybe one or 2 drives into the 3rd qtr and that was it. Im sure Silsbee could have a few 100 yards added to each kids stats if they played thr 2nd half of games.

Id recommend a place called the Stuffed Baked Potato Factory about 10 minutes from NRG.

    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
    • SEC fan bases before Texas got there: “The horns aren’t ready for this. Every week is a battle.” SEC fan bases after Texas arrived: “Texas has the easiest SEC schedule ever!” SEC fan bases after every one of their teams has lost to one or more SEC teams from the bottom half of the standings, many of whom Texas beat comfortably: 🤐
    • With a big win against the rival to close out the year… look to see Lamar make the playoffs next year
