Guest abovetherim Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Lamar finishes three game road stretch against Lady Tigers Nov. 16, 2007 HOUSTON - The Lamar University women's basketball team closes out their three game road swing Saturday, taking on Texas Southern University at the H&PE Arena at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Cardinals enter Saturday's game with a 1-2 record, on the heels of a 94-35 loss at the University of Texas on Thursday night. In their first to games of the season they posted an 86-52 win over LSU-Shreveport and a 91-54 loss at Oklahoma State. Through the first three games of the season the Lady Cardinals have been led by sophomore Brittney Williams who is averaging 13 points a game. Junior Nikki Williams is averaging 12 points per game, while freshman Tamara Abalde 11.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Texas Southern enters the game with a 0-2 record after dropping road game at the University of Houston and Wichita State. The Lady Tigers opened the season with a 76-58 loss to UH, and a then fell to the Shockers 57-40 in Wichita, Ks. Saturday's game will be the 30th meeting between Lamar and TSU, with LU holding a 21-8 advantage in the win column. The last time they met was during the 2002-03 season, a 64-53 win for Texas Southern.
