Wasn't he and his dad sued for housing discrimination by the DOJ in the 60s?

1973.  I read about it a while back and the story is that a black man responded to an "apartment for rent" sign.  He was told by on-site management that the unit had already been rented, then a white woman inquired about the apartment and was shown the unit as still being available.  Upon pressure the on site manager claimed that he was just following orders, but that was something that the Trumps denied at the time.  The case was settled with the Trumps agreeing to publish ads welcoming black applicants and to also Familiarize themselves with the Fair Housing Act.... the Trumps didn't admit guilt either.

It's important to remember a couple of important facts.... first, the Fair Housing Act (1968) had only been in effect for four years when the incident occurred... an incident in which Trump was not accused of having any direct involvement, and for which he denied any knowledge of.   Imagine that in 1972, somebody walked into a Hilton Hotel and was denied service, presumably because of their race... then in 2023 people are pointing at the 1972 episode as "proof" that Paris Hilton is a racist, even though most of us are pretty sure she bangs black dudes.

LOL.....YUP

The files detail dozens of interviews the bureau conducted with Trump building tenants, management and employees, seeking indications that minority tenants were steered away from housing complexes.

Most of those interviewed said they were not aware of any discrimination.

In October 1973, the Civil Rights Division filed a lawsuit against Trump Management Company, Donald Trump and his father Fred Trump, alleging that African-Americans and Puerto Ricans were systematically excluded from apartments. The Trumps responded with a $100 million countersuit accusing the government of defamation.

Donald Trump denied any racial discrimination, but said his managers tried to weed out certain kinds of tenants. “What we didn’t do was rent to welfare cases, white or black," Trump wrote in a 1987 book.

settling the litigation in 1975. The agreement contained no admission of wrongdoing, but required the Trump firm to institute a series of safeguards to make sure apartments were rented without regard to race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

That RULE was agreed to was voted on.......Perhaps you can explain how that would not be democratic?

It was agreed to by members of one party , a party that does not tolerate dissent. Hell, the Duma votes, and members are elected. Does that make Russia a democracy?

What? Negotiation with who? The vote was 220 Republicans for, 213 Democrats and one Republican against. McCarthy negotiated it with his caucus so he could be speaker. They didn’t negotiate the blackball rule with Democrats.

They sent in black and white testers. Blacks were told no, whites were told there were vacancies.

Oh, I'm not disputing that it happened.   There's no way to know for sure, but it sounds like a reasonable story based on the time/place of the accusations.  I guess the question is whether or not some apartment manager's racist actions in 1973 prove that a completely different person (in this case Trump) is a racist in 2023... especially given that he's had a lifetime of good words and race relations other than this one claim.

When one is a racist himself/herself, this is all they look for.
