Well, the best of the best make it to State. Looks like LR Boys will get to take on the #1 team in the state & Class 4A favorite to start things off

I like the boys’ odds better than the girls.  Both are underdogs, despite the girls having a higher ranking.  That said, they’ve both made it this far for a reason.  Would love to see them keep going.

Check out the state championship program for team info, historical stats & more

This is the hidden content, please

Interesting looking through the program, on the boys side, not one State Champion has come from Region III. Lufkin won it in 5a in 2015 but I don’t think they came out of Region  III

about to go back to back.  Celina lost their second game of the season LAST year 2-1 to a 6A playoff school.  Since then they've gone 55-0-1.  The scariest thing to me is that last year they allowed 21 goals on the season on their way to a state championship, and this year they've allowed 7.

The playoffs are always kinda fascinating to me in soccer.  It usually doesn't bode well for our region, but it's always interesting to see how some of these teams match against the major hotbeds of dallas and austin.

Also, I wish I knew more about Wylie East.  Last season they went 17-6-1, finished 3rd in their district, and lost their opening round 5A playoff game.  This year they moved up to 6A, and somehow they're 28-0 and have only given up 5 goals all season.  That defies all logic.

Lumberton girls down 1-0 after 10 min.

Lumberton defender attempted to shield attacker while goalkeeper attempted to come out and make a play & the Stephenville attacker just got a foot on it to knock it in

Skill-wise, these two teams seem pretty even, but Stephenville is WAAAAY faster, which is not something I expected to say.  They're more physical as well, but that's an area where our region always struggles when they get to state and face Austin and Dallas teams.

3-0 with 8:54 left.  very similar to their first goal where lackadaisical defending got punished by someone who wanted it more sticking a toe in and poking it over the keeper.

Stephenville has made their opportunities count. Finishing around the goal will put them In the finals

phenomenal run for the raiders, and a great few years.  It might be awhile until they're back.  Boudreaux is a very special player, and this has been a special group.  Lumberton graduates a whole lot of seniors.

that's part of it, but they created many more, better chances.
