No knock on him or the team, because you beat who’s in front of you, but if looks like two playoff wins against a .500 team and a team with a losing record was what it took to get to state?  Unless maxpreps is missing some games? If that’s all it takes they should be going to state about 8 out of 10 years if he’s a good coach and attracting local talent.  Their next game is against a district opponent whose incomplete maxpreps record is 7-11.  I don’t know how all of the private stuff works, but I seem to remember maybe they’re soccer team winning a state championship and only having to win 3 or 4 games.

    • They don't win on a consistent basis. In the 6A district West Brook just got out of, the middle schools had better weight rooms! Every team also had turf practice fields, which are a helluva better to practice on when it rains. Also, teams that have indoor facilities have a major advantage. When it rains, they can have a regular practice. They don' have to use a gym, where you have a quarter of the space and you can't hit. Yeah, facilities matter!
    • I completely get what you are saying. The chance to participate in successful programs is an important part of our kids life lessons. The thing is, for me anyway, is in the not too distant future, for the vast majority of kids, the game ends for them. A quality education will stay with them for a lifetime and will allow them to choose a variety of career paths. I hate seeing the guys who were big time studs and played at very high levels, late in life who have no path to take because of a lack of a good basic education. I know my town has these guys, I bet most of us know guys who fall in to this category in some way.
    • Hypocritical is crying that abortion stops a beating heart while demanding the murder of another human being.    And vice versa. Me?  I'm pro-life... unborn children AND convicted criminals.  The part no one wants to recognize is that it cost a lot less money to house/clothe/feed Susan Smith for 40 years that it would cost to fund her appeals of a death sentence.  I'm also anti-wasteful spending.
    • Not that I am aware of, but I am sure there are athletes in Livingston who just need to be set up to succeed.
