stang4life Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 They should be. Steroid-abuse = cheating, but worse than that...it has the potential to wreak havoc on the body. I am not happy that the testing did not begin this season, but not surprised. In fact, I think that teams in the playoffs should be required to test their players. My one concern with the testing is will it emulate the "random" drug tests that schools currently perform because if so, it will not do much good. I have two friends...one who was drug-free and the school knew that she was a safe bet for a drug test was drug-tested (10) times her sophomore year. The other's daughter has been drug-tested in junior high (3-4) times and the only extracurricular activity she is involved in is poetry, but another safe bet.Who decides WHO will be "randomly" tested? What local teams are in favor of testing?
Cardinal Supporter Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I believe Coach Hooks was on Chanel 6 yesterday or the day before saying that he was in favor of testing. He also said that the coaches preach to the kids to not take steriods. I am sure all the schools coaches caution the kids about using steriods.
Gasilla Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I think you will see a shift in powers in the state when this hits. There are teams out there who have been able to stay on top mainly due to steroid abuse.

BearWolf Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 there is more out there than you would think. The coaches have a good idea as to which programs are using it.
Cardinal Supporter Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 there is more out there than you would think. The coaches have a good idea as to which programs are using it.Do you think that some programs condone it or the coaches just look the other way?
Cardinal Supporter Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 I guess winning is more important to some coaches/programs than the welfare of the kids.
Pimp Smack Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 They need to. I know some 22-4a teams that would SUFFER if they tested.
BearWolf Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 yes, and that's ashame. Some of these great programs once testing starts will become ordinary.
77 Posted November 23, 2007 Report Posted November 23, 2007 Being caught for use can and will effect teams in this area, it effected one team with the loss of a potential starter that could have made a difference in thier season. Yes I think it is a good thing and yes it will change some programs if they get caught.
