Newton vs Anahauc Canceled

Game not played because of excess smoke from nearby fires and chance of evacuations.  Newton is looking for a Week 3 game on Sept. 8.   Need to find a game!!!

Newton down to 8 games already. Probably no team in Texas has a bye this week either.

Right? I feel like there was a better option here than just canceling the game.

While I agree, that sucks for both teams I can understand why they canceled. There are more important things going on right now in Jasper and Newton County than HS Football.

Not a great idea to take kids off 2 1/2 hours when there is a chance that they may have to evacuate their house.  Every option was considered.

Also Anahuac just recent lost 2 football players tragically.

I believe they have same bye week. Maybe they reschedule?
