When you’re playing schools twice your size it’s hard to compete. Can’t blame coaching for kids leaving and numbers dropping. If west brook stays 6a it doesn’t matter who the coach is. Nick Saban couldn’t win there under current circumstances.

Agreed bmt severely needs one school, a purge of the coaching staffs at every level (middle schools included) & adequate administrators that knows how to lay a foundation to build a successful athletic program. The weight room at United is literally still the same one I worked out in & I graduated in 2009 smh. Also BISD is literally the only schools in 21-6A that doesn’t have block schedule, why is block scheduling so important? It allows you to literally get two practices in per day if you use the 90 min athletic period properly. There’s literally no way possible to have a productive athletic period with you only get 50 mins to practice. Even worse when you’re the only team in the district that doesn’t have a 90 min athletic period

It's a combination of both. Kids are leaving the programs that were studs. If that 2024 freshman class would've stayed together, they would be able to compete in this district. They had the talent and competed well in the district I think they only lost 2 district games and that was due to players being hurt and one moved up to varsity.  Then you have kids getting kicked off the team because of bad attitudes or smoking weed and vaping. Its other factors besides coaching. Yes, the OC need to do better with play calling. He had one successful drive last night with play calling and it resulted in a TD.  Also, the kids have to stop getting crazy penalties. Now to their defense the officiating was horrible (beginning of the year jitters i get it) however, the kids have to execute the play. You cant expect your defense to hold drives and the offense has you right back on the field in less than a min or two. Its a lot going on at Westbrook and the score doesn't tell the whole picture. They don't tackle at practice and film sessions are nonexistent.

There are many reasons football is bad at brook. If you look, however, at the successful programs now in Texas most of them are suburban schools that have a lot more money.  Unfortunately, people are fleeing the BISD school system for a multitude of reasons, some reasonable and some not.  If Brook dropped to 5a it would help, but as long as they stay 6a they are going to struggle against the wealthier teams and the more they struggle, the more people will transfer and it just keeps getting worse. Their only hope is to drop classifications and then they’ll probably compete a little better but not state championships. The ship has sailed.

That was completely unheard of in the Stump era. Tackling was MANDATORY at practice. Film sessions were also MANDATORY before practice.

Hell, sometimes we had a 2nd film session during Football PE.
