myrecordwashorrible
Starting this topic for the 5 of us that care. Spidersal and I can rip on Lamar if nothing else. Give em hell Sir Spider. 1 win in week 1 by HCU against and an NAIA independent. The Big Sky and FBS schools dominated the rest. Week 2 could leave the conference with another 1 win week. UIW over Northern Colorado is the only game with a SLC favorite as most are playing up a level this week. Commerce has the only other FCS vs FCS game (Sacremento State). Thus, it's difficult to make any real "judgement" on Lamar with regards to improvement at this point. South Dakota is no powerhouse, but a quality FCS year in and year out. Might be the first real "measuring stick." Visited with an SLC coach who basically said the same thing about measuring with his squad based on first 2 opponents being at a completely different level. myrecordwashorrible
Lamar, U of the Incarnate Word, and Nicholls are all winners today. McNeese @ Commerce started at 7. Extremely early in conference play, but Lamar sits at the top with Nicholls at 2-0. UIW is also undefeated having played only 1 conference game. Commerce is playing its first game of conference tonight. The other 4 have at least one loss. Lamar travels to preseason favorite, yet 0-6, Southeastern next week. myrecordwashorrible
Lamar @ SELA...Commerce @ The Word. These are the 2 conference matchups today. PV @ HCU is the other game. Sad situation at Northwestern State as one of their players was shot and killed this week. Thus, game @ Nichlls was cancelled. The young man, Ronnie Caldwell, was from Austin and played at Cedar Park before attending Tyler JC.
myrecordwashorrible
Lamar hangs on to beat SELA. UiW beats A&M Commerce pulling away late 28-11. If UIW beats McNeese next week, which would be expected, Lamar hosts UIW with both sitting at 3-0 in conference and UIW ranking in the FCS top 10 (6 going in to today's game) on the 28th. HCU up 30-0 on PV in the 4th. The only other undefeated in Nicholls at 2-0. They are at Commerce next week after today's game against Northwestern was canceled.
