Guest abovetherim Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Lamar women seek third straight win Nov. 23, 2007 BEAUMONT - The Lamar University women's basketball team looks to continue their winning ways on Saturday as they play host to the Wiley College Lady Wildcats at 4 p.m. at the Montagne Center. Lamar holds a 1-0 advantage in the win column over Wiley, winning their only meeting with the Wildcats 85-50 at the Montagne Center during the 2005-06 season. The Lady Cardinals enter Saturday's game with a 3-2 record, on the heels of a 93-42 win over the William Carey Lady Saders on Monday afternoon at the Montagne Center. The win gave LU back to back victories and pushed them over the .500 mark for the first time this season. The Lady Cards have been led by freshman Tamara Abalde who is averaging 14.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while junior Nikki Williams is averaging 12.8 points and has a team-high 15 steals on the year. Sophomore Brittney Williams has averaged 11.8 points and senior Aida Bakhos is averaging 7.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Wiley enters the game at 6-1 on the year after defeating Tougaloo College 75-60 on Wednesday night for their third straight win. They are led by Linda Emeghebo who is averaging a double-double with 15.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, while Ciara Sanders has poured in 14.57 points per contest. Also playing well for the Lady Wildcats has been Nicole Posley who is averaging 12.86 points per game.
