The 1st half of the season could be very challenging for the RANGERS.

1. Looks like we lost out on resigning Montgomery.

2. Seager, Lowe, and Jung are all dealing with injuries.

3. deGrom, Scherzer and newly acquired Mahle will not be ready until the summer or later, which leaves us with no depth to the rotation.

Projected pitching rotation:

Was hoping they’d sign a big name reliever and maybe trade for a starter.  Might be a long shot to make the playoffs this year if we can’t stay afloat until everyone comes back.  On a positive, Wyatt Langford has been absolutely raking in spring training.

Anyone have information about Michael Lorenzen?  I'm not very familiar with him but it sounds like his career has been up and down.  Is this a good addition?

He'll be a decent 4th or 5th starter.  He's spent a good amount of time in his career as a long reliever, so when all of the injured pitchers return he may fill a valuable role in the bullpen.  Career 40-38 record, 4.11 ERA.  So basically an inning eater, but not a bad move by the rangers.

Josh Jung was hit by a pitch last night and fractured his wrist. Probably going to be the middle of May before he comes back.

gotta feel for him.  He'd been our best or second best hitter to start the season.  pretty insane how stacked our lineup is even with him and Lowe out.

Bradford pitched a gem last night in the 10-2 win over houston.
7.2 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 4 K’s, 0 walks

I didn’t trust him coming in, but he’s been dang solid through two starts.

After the 16 games the RANGERS are 8-8.  The pitching has been bad so far.  The starters are only going 4 and 5 innings which leads to a over worked, already bad, bullpen.  Can't wait for Lowe, Jung, and at least one pitcher to come of the IL.

Leclerc has cost us 2-3 games already, and lost his closer spot already.  The bright spot in the pen has been Kirby Yates.  He took over the closer role this series and saved his first chance, then today when the rangers scored in the top of the 9th he shut down Detroit in the bottom of the 9th to get the win.  He’s 2-0 on the year with a save, pitching 7.1 innings giving up only 1 hit so far with a 0.00 ERA.  Hopefully he’s found the form he had for the Padres from 2017 to 2019.  If so he could be elite.
