I’m forgetting someone… I’ll have to dig up my old yearbooks. Not sure. There is some footage of LP from 1979 against Clear Creek on YouTube though. Maybe it will ring a bell for you? I just checked and you're right, there were three in the backfield but I'm not sure who that third one was. OlDawg 1 Quote

Back to the regularly scheduled, way too late coaching moves that just screwed up a year’s worth of eligibility for some young men. 😁 Quote
TornadoesFan Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 So far over 40 applications have been submitted for the Galveston Ball position Quote
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 I wasn't originally going to post this cause it didn't cause a coaching change, but Port Arthur Memorial is looking for a new Director of Athletics. Quote

OlDawg Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Are there normally this many late changes in the coaching ranks? Seems like quite a few are happening pretty late into Spring this year... My imagination, or more than normal? Quote

I cant remember where I saw it but I think there is a "higher than normal" pace for HC vacancies this year. OlDawg 1 Quote

TornadoesFan Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Sources tell me Galveston Ball should be making a decision next Wednesday. Quote
Kegger Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 Any word on Coldspring? Timeline? I know they ain’t the Coldspring of years past but still would assume this is a job that could pull some names. Quote

I hear they are taking a long look at Ball alumnus Kevin Berneathy. Just kidding. I wonder if Ball DC Troy Addudell is in the mix. He's had a lot of experience as a head coach at Clear Lake and though he didn't have a lot of success they kept him there forever almost. I think he was at Baytown Sterling after that. Quote

I think he was at Baytown Sterling after that. LOL I’m sure they’ve talked to him. Be foolish not to. But—and I don’t know him personally, nor have I ever spoken to him—I think he’s where he wants to be, has fantastic support, a steady good talent pool, entire control of the program, and new digs. He can build his own legacy at La Porte, and follow in previous coach’s steps to the HOF. He might think it would be kind of neat to follow Lundin, and LaReau. Especially since LaReau hired him for his first coaching job in Texas. To be in the HOF along with the first guy to take a chance on you in Texas, and do it from the same school would be very cool I would think. Quote

This would be a good hire for them. I believe the next two years will be a rebuild for them, but they got some talent especially from the JV team. Quote
GBALL2000 Posted Monday at 01:03 PM Report Posted Monday at 01:03 PM It would only be right to give Berneathy a look since he played at Ball High and his Dad coached there for a long time. The guy that I'm hearing is a local guy to the county and has won a state championship nearby and is doing a great job in the 409. OlDawg 1 Quote

He hasn't had much success at La Marque. One thing that La Marque and Ball have in common is they're building a new high school at the same site as the old school. In La Marque's case they are also building a new stadium there so that they won't need to play at Stingeree any more. They must not be expecting much growth because it will only hold 5000 and the artist's drawing doesn't show hardly any parking. Also, Oliphant's salary at La Marque was $105,077 in '24, Bennight's in '24 was $102, 342. Quote
