The guy that I'm hearing is a local guy to the county and has won a state championship nearby and is doing a great job in the 409. A coordinator? Quote

One thing that La Marque and Ball have in common is they're building a new high school at the same site as the old school. In La Marque's case they are also building a new stadium there so that they won't need to play at Stingeree any more. They must not be expecting much growth because it will only hold 5000 and the artist's drawing doesn't show hardly any parking. Also, Oliphant's salary at La Marque was $105,077 in '24, Bennight's in '24 was $102, 342. I didn't know all that about the new builds. Be interesting to see the final hire. Berneathy currently makes more than either of those, and his nephew plays OL for La Porte as well. I think he's a soph. The LP freshman class has some studs--even with Simon moving up last year--so LP is looking good for the foreseeable future if the kids stay. (So far, not only are they staying, but others are enrolling.) I know LP frosh won district in track as well, and are undefeated in baseball. Hard to leave when you know the talent coming up--and wanting to transfer in--can help make you very successful. I thought I saw somewhere where Ball was expected to drop to D2? Was that you that mentioned? I assume that will have an impact on the coaching hire. Quote

Definitely a local guy but he's a local right now not originally from the area...dont think he's been on a state title staff, but he did coach in a state title game recently Quote

Upon further investigation, I think probably not. The TEA numbers usually are the same as or about the same as the UIL numbers taken at the same time. But in some cases for whatever reason I know they're not. In 2023 the TEA number for Ball was 1951, but the UIL number was 2030. Hopefully somebody can explain why the UIL numbers are sometimes higher. Quote
