only 2 were competitive.

SOC-PNG; Bellville-Gilmer and Malakoff-Franklin were competitive down to the very end

Gunter-Tidehaven was pretty competitive until the 4th

Mart-Albany and Duncanville-North Shore were close enough to where it wasn't a total blowout but you never felt like Mart or North Shore was coming back to win

Yeah everything else...blowout city

Avg margin of victory 27.5 points

Do they change which regions play semis every year?

Maybe we need that back to back bump up rule in place. Although every team going for their 3rd lost.

Or maybe it has more to do with the travel. Notice outside of PNG it was all DFW area or teams that had less than two hours of travel that won. And PNG came up the day before. Those kids said last year they were worn out by the time the game started from being up early and a 6 hour bus ride. This game should rotate between Alamodome, NRG and Jerry world.

Has the discussion of offsetting 1A,2A,3A. Then 4A,5A,6A ever been talked about? Like 1A-3A start their season a week earlier so state championships can be played Fridays and Saturdays only…?

That would cause too much issues with scheduling non district games.

If you want them on separate weekends, then push back the 4A-6A a week. Would give them a week off leading up to championship games.

But I am pretty sure Jerry World wouldn't be available for two straight weekends.

I’m sure it wouldn’t either, but if you rotate the state championship game then you won’t have this problem.. the teams going for 3 peats could have played at Alamodome, NRG, and Cowboy stadium. But if they are so gung-ho about having it in the DFW 1A-3A could easily utilize The Star I’m sure…

It does not matter what makes sense or what the people want.

It is all about the money.........

The Dallas area does not travel well and the Houston area does.

They can make more MONEY having it in Dallas.........

Until the Houston area people stop going to Dallas to watch games it will stay there.

Well this year was lower than years past so that’s a start, but you are right what makes sense doesn’t. All about the Benjamin’s! Houston area teams don’t get ever no love or respect from the UIL…

I would like to see them rotate it out of fairness, but travel doesn’t have much to do with it.  The best football in the state at just about all levels is in the Dallas area.  Due to demographics you can eliminate 2/3 of the state having a chance every year.
