I certainly think if it is an in season varsity sport, the players should be allowed to miss all contact in football spring training. Yes be there and watch and learn, but no contact unless it is the player’s choice

Yes, the new bulldog jersey should have “don’t hit me “ printed on it.  Nederland could start a powder puff league.

Naw people are mad the good ole boy system is getting broken. Didn’t think it would be this fast for the drama to be here. Honeymoon is over.

If you want different results you have to start doing things differently. If football is the metric we are going to use as the success of an athletic program then that is where majority of the focus should be. I know that may hurt some feelings, however when the track team doesn't have anybody qualify for regionals there is never a 30 page thread on here.

Got some info on this...this was a footwork drill when the injury happened and that this is a pre-existing condition (he injured the elbow before)  As if there wasn't drama in Nederland before now the new football coach is taking heat from the baseball people because of it...Coach Rich is trying to change the culture at Nederland it was inevitable that he ruffled a few feathers along the way

Completely false information. This injury has zero to do with the previous injury. Also explain how a "footwork" drill leads to a kid lead blocking and taking a helmet to the elbow with enough impact to possibly tear ligaments?

Maybe the Nederland folks will realize someone else besides the AD may be the issue.

why do people in general feel like social media is were anything & everything gets resolved. It wasn’t intentional & it was a general drill. if helmets weren’t used & the other kid cuts his eye on the baseball players elbow. I’m sure the headlines would be. WHY are these young babies NOT wearing helmets….

Social media is a Big Hurdle, everyone has a voice. Lots of misinformation. The tax payers wanted change , now here it is. The flagship of athletics is football. You wanna see the moral, pride and spirit falter, let football continue to tank. How bout we let the new AD, who just happens to be the HFC do his job..... BUT BUT everyone on social media knows better.

what happen to those days when a kid got whipped at school he got another one when he got home. The good old days when the only drug i knew was when my mother drug me to Church.

I don't care what it is. You are spreading misinformation about the kid. It wasn't because of a past injury. It didn't happen during footwork drills.

And I bet you didn't run any Oklahoma drills in helmets only. I am just curious now if you are the same person hiding behind a fake username on facebook making dumb comments as well.

A pinched nerve in the same arm is still an injury we're arguing over semantics (it supplies blood the the arm which was injured) and as far as a fake username I've been around a long time here I don't appreciate the connotation

Try reading. I asked if you were the person on facebook posting the same comments under a fake name.

I also have an issue with the Ace at your school throwing 80+ pitches on Tuesday night then throwing 300 footballs on Wednesday.  It’s not just Nederland.

Orangefield “Ace” is a Sr with multiple no hitters this season that doesn’t play football but I know who you’re inferring to.

Here is the facebook post for y'all

I’m not going to put names or schools on this, but feel free to screen shot it to whoever you like. Yes yes, I’m a baseball guy. But I love football more than baseball. My son played all three sports in high school. So I’m not a baseball only guy. But if your high school football coach has your Varsity baseball son doing football drills in pads right now, that is wrong. At one certain school, the baseball team lost their starting third baseman (Gladiator kid) because he dislocated his elbow in a football drill. Two weeks before high school baseball playoffs, and now his season is done. Basically this coaches decision to make Varsity baseball players do football workouts on April 22nd, 5 months before Friday night lights, just sabotaged this kids season, and the teams season. And once again, I’m a huge football supporter, but this is wrong!! This is why kids stop playing football. Coaches preach they want kids playing all the sports, well how about respect baseball season, from Feb to May !  If the shoe was on the other foot, and a kid got injured playing baseball in October and he was a varsity football starter, what would that coach do? Be pissed off! And I would 100% agree with him! There is a reason I don’t have a fall baseball program with football guys. Because I respect football season. All I’m asking is football coaches to respect baseball season. Respect the High School baseball coaches that have worked their ass off to try to get their team in a playoff situation. Support them, don’t Sabotage them by taking their players out because of a “all important April 22nd” football workout. And I don’t want to hear this was bad luck, or any crap like that!!!A lot of these kids are Division One Baseball players, and just good high school football players. If you want to continue to have these kids play football, start doing the right thing. If not, I’m going to try to get those kids quit football and just focus on baseball. And let me say it again, I want all my Gladiator kids playing football!! I go support them watching their football games, and I love it!! But not at the cost of an injury in April playing football, not baseball . Bad miss……Do a better job! Be a better football coach, and remember, it’s not about you, but it’s about the kids who respect you and will do anything you ask them to do. Don’t punish them for being a good baseball or basketball player!!

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
