For 19-4A:

1. BC - *IF* Carson Fall is healthy the whole season and doesn’t get overused. Their new coach has a large softball IQ, so she should make some sound personnel decisions.
2 and 3 will be either Vidor or LCM. Vidor has the talent but struggles with confidence.  The only thing they really lost from last year was a couple of strong hitters. Some of the freshmen hit just as well. LCM is good but predictable.
4/5 will be Lumberton or Jasper. Jasper is another team that struggles with confidence. I think both teams are about equal in ability.

Now that District is here... it will be a very interesting and competitive district, but this is how I see it shaping up.

1. LCM (15-4) - District champs from last year with all returners. Lexie Moss is absolutely killing the ball. I believe she leads the area in Home runs with 8. EIther her or Smith from Kountze. Very solid pitching and defense also. Will be some great battles against Fall.

2. BC (11-9) - The only reason they are competitive is because of Fall. She is a phenom but can't do it all by herself. They do not hit the ball well at all and defense is average at best when the ball is put in play.

3. Vidor (15-5) - Vidor is doing very well with what they have. A couple of young players are stepping up. They even beat BS with Fall pitching in a tournament. I can see them slipping up and losing a game or two that they shouldn't.

4. Silsbee (14-5) - Doing much better than poeple thought. Won a couple close games against solid teams. Very young though, so who knows how they will respond to adversity when it comes up. I believe they start 6 freshman and 2 sophomores, so the future looks bright for them, if this is true.

5. Jasper (7-9) - Jasper is under performing so far if you ask me. They have Sells, which is an absolute beast, but other than her, they are struggling this year. They will be in the mix for that 4th spot, but I just do not see them getting it.

6. Lumberton (4-11) - Once they get their best player back from injury, they will be competitive for the 4th spot also. They hit the ball decently, but they do not have a dominating pitcher.

7. WOS - (5-13) - ....

I think 1 and 2 could honestly go either way.

3, 4, 5, and 6 will be fun to see how it shapes up, but I give the nod to Vidor right now.

We will see how Silsbee’s youth responds after a 0-3 start to district

Beat Jasper and WOS after this post...

Silsbee will be fine. They will take their lumps this year. They have competed, just not getting the job done this year. Which is ok. They are literally a JV team. 6 Freshman, 2 sophomores, 1 Jr. And it is a very talented district. They remind me a lot of the Kountze group that are Seniors right now. Very sucessful in Little league and select. Their freshman year they got 4th in their district. Next couple years they were battling for 1st, and now this year they are seniors and ranked top 25 in the state.

1st - BC - Fall is untouchable. Simple as that. The freshman pitcher for Silsbee held BC to 6 runs (5 earned) and it was a 3-0 ball game in the 6th inning. BC Run Ruled them both games last year.

2nd - Lumberton - Playing out of their mind right now. Can hit the ball throughout the lineup and plays great defense behind a solid pitcher. Much improved team this season.

3rd - LCM - Had a tough loss to Lumberton but still playing good ball. I believe they will end up the 2 seed. They can stroke the ball.

4th - Vidor - Playing decent ball. They hit the ball well overall, I just think they had a rough game against Ltown and LCM. Silsbee had them on the ropes and it was a 0-0 ball game in the 4th and then the wheels fell off. Crazy stat, Freshman pitcher gave up 7 runs but 0 were earned. Errors killed them that game. Still went the complete game with them. Last year Silsbee was run ruled both times by them.

5th - Silsbee - Showing tons of potential and the future is bright. Have 5 girls that have hit a homerun this season. 11 HR total. Last year there were only 2. Obviously much improved.

6th - Jasper - Under performing for sure. They have talent but can't seem to put it together. Silsbee beat them 14-5. Silsbee was run ruled both games last year.

7th - WOS
