The Lamar State College-Port Arthur men’s basketball team travels to Shreveport on Friday for a 7 p.m. game against Southern University-Shreveport.

The Seahawks are 4-7 after losing to Navarro College (84-47) and Angelina College (79-74) at last weekend’s Angelina Roadrunner Classic Tournament in Lufkin.

Lamar State still is without the services of freshman guard Jason Williamson, who broke his hand and has missed the last seven games. Head coach Don Bryson expects Williamson to be back in the lineup after the first of the year.

Sophomore guard Noah Cole from Vidor continues to lead the Seahawks in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Navarro held Cole to just six points, marking only the second time this season that he didn’t score in double figures.

Cole came back the next night to lead the Seahawks with 20 points against Angelina.

The Southern-Shreveport Port City Jags won the Louisiana Athletic Association of Community Colleges championship in 2007 and are 2-1 against junior college teams this fall.

Lama State closes its fall schedule with a Dec. 8 home matchup with Montgomery College in the Carl Parker Center.

The Seahawks return to action Jan. 7 with one more tune-up game at home against Southern U-Shreveport.

Lamar State begins Metro Athletic Conference play Jan. 9 at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster.
