Supposedly, LW had quite a bit coming back from that 10-3 team, so not sure what led to the 6-5 season in his only year at Lake Worth...based on this post, you would think that Dayton hired Knute Rockne or something

Compared to what Dayton has hired the last 3 times they have. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Head Coaches do NOT leave schools after back 2 back 10 win seasons if they believe the talent is there to do it for a 3rd time in a row. You better be uber talented at every other position if you are starting a FRESHMAN QB at the 4A level or above. If not, then you are probably not set up for immediate success.

I ran outta likes. +1!Ā

(I have to add in: problems within the administration would cause them to leave, I've personally seen it in this area few years ago)

Foster will still be the focal point of the offense, just from a more dynamic position. He will benefit greatly from the addition of Jr and Dayton could be very very good very quickly. Especially with Prieto getting a jump start on installing his system by starting on March 4. Fun times in bronco land!!

Good analysis-

This is huge. The difference in Crosby when he was there was immediate and obvious. Dayton is going to take a massive step forward and make that district a lot more interesting.Ā

One question: Lake Worth was 10-3 the season before he showed up, with a 6-5 (first round playoff exit) in his one season there. Obviously, a season is just one season, but thatā€™s a significant step back from the year earlier. Any thought or inside info on that year? Graduated a lot of talent? Totally new system?Ā

A few things from Lake Worth

1) their top returning player who was the district MVP transferred out during the summer (was ruled ineligible and didnt play his senior year)

2) Prieto was hired the Friday before Memorial Day, tough to really implement things getting hired that late

Can you refresh my memory.. who were the last 3 hires?

Hancok then Nations both incompetent assistantĀ  coaches from the Stewart era. Then coach Ware ( buddy of Jeff Nation ,assistant coach New Caney) the best of the three but half assedĀ  it his last yearĀ  since he had another job lined up.

Sure, Hancock, Nations and Ware.

Hancock: 9-3, 9-2, 6-6, 7-5, 7-4

Nations: 3-7, 2-7, 0-10, 1-9

Ware: 0-10, 2-8, 7-4, 4-6

I don't think you can group Hancock with the other two tbhĀ

Personally I think you can just due to the fact that he got the job because he was in the click and by the time he was run off there were less than 30 kids on varsity and would have been less than that the following year. IMO what success he did have was because of the remnants from the Stewart era. No one wanted to play for him (as was shown in his next job) so it was going downhill. But you got your opinion I got mineā€¦ā€¦ to each their own.Ā

Hancock had zeroĀ  people skills always running his players in the ground getting into it with the players parentsĀ  as well as the fans ! very negative and verbal abusive guy. He won a lot of gamesĀ  because Stewart was in the back ground babysittingĀ  even during live games he would give HancockĀ  hand signalsĀ  on what to do and laugh at him while saying how dumb he was while talking to liltex and me,Ā

Just the HCĀ  for some reason -Ā  Ā maybe the school board has something else in mind down the line ?Ā

Assistant AD title included. Ware wasn't the AD either during his time there. Jeff Nations had that title and it was given to Geoff McCracken when Nations retired back in December.Ā

So basically Prieto Chunked Crosby the duece and then turned up in DAYTON less than a year later????? Is this how I'm reading this?

I can only speculate but it sure seems curious. doesn't it? He could have a vendetta and a score to settle with certain individuals there. Remember this is a guy who wants to stick his thumb in the eye of others at times. He shows little restraint. He might be jumping up and down and spitting on someones turf soon. It would be quite interesting to see how that would be percieved. Or maybe not, maybe it is all just a coincidence and nothing more. Its 50/50 at this point. Certainly its a storyline to keep everyone amused through the offseason!

Perhaps he wants to prove that the Red nation messed up. Or maybe heā€™s a football coach that wants to succeed in a program that has struggledā€¦ to be kind.Ā
At any rate it looks like Dayton has landed a prize.Ā

Don't know this Geoff McCracken hopefully he's a temp AD - really doesn't matter though if its HC/AD or Assistant AD/HC as long as the money is good! -if little Jerry's dad is happy, I'm happy!Ā  Go Broncos ----Ā

McCracken has been in Dayton ISD for quite sometime.

Was the head basketball coach there for many years. Now a school admin.Ā

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.Ā  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.Ā  Ā "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"Ā  and then crying on every little touch of someone.Ā  Ā  lets ball out today ktz! Ā  Ā
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.Ā  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I donā€™t benefit from it, thatā€™s not my area. Ā But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway. Ā These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but Iā€™m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So whatā€™s the point? Ā We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime? Ā And I donā€™t know I can say we have ā€œcomplicatedā€ it. Which appeal should we cut out? Ā Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck? Ā Or do we not pay for an indigent personā€™s experts at the trial court level because itā€™s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they werenā€™t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we havenā€™t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money? Ā Seems to me to be an obvious solution but Iā€™m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
