Y’all had a good draw.

Factually LaPorte had the #1 seed and drew a 4th seed. Remember how ecstatic you were last year after beating half of the BH team as y'all elatedly cruised to the number one seed? Yes BH did implode in the 2nd half of the 2nd round game, but perhaps you noticed BH was alone IN the 2nd round. No spin there, just a fact.

This district makes absolutely no sense Crosby and Angleton should have been switched but the UIL is dumb.

Springwoods replaced by Angleton

I like the district a lot better with Angleton in it, they bring some physicality and plus level athletes I think the district is missing overall. I think they're pretty comparable physically to the College Station schools Crosby could see in bi-district if we can make the playoffs. I also now have an excuse to go fight the mosquitoes in Lake Jackson to see if I can break 80 at The Wilderness, so thank you UIL.

Angleton, La Porte and Friendswood likely be the DCTHSF pick for top three in district. It's a put up or shut up year for my cougars no way around it. You got your excuse year as a coach, didn't get to hire your people, didn't have an off season, didn't have a spring. Now you've had it all, we either execute and play well or we don't and ultimately that's the challenge for everyone at Crosby.

So La Porte is preseason #15. But DCTF must have a misprint, they have LP picked 5th in district and Crosby 1st.

Crosby

Friendswood

Kempner

KP

Does seem like a mismatch. LP returns quite a bit. I don’t have the magazine. But, district looks to be in alphabetical order based on what you’ve typed here…

Barring something really unforeseen, I don’t see La Porte missing the PO’s.

Article about Angleton.

Good article. La Porte returns similar. With the coaching ties between the schools, should be a good battle. Do you have a link to La Porte’s 2024 outlook?

Crosby has too much talent to not get off the floor, think the old coach might pull some magic out of a hat, just saying the cougars might surprise some people this year.

I don't think anybody is surprised when Crosby has a good year. It's expected. It's when they have an off year, you're surprised.

I think the coach is what is holding them back. We will see.

We had a lot of talent last year and it looked like we didn't have any. Still running a scheme that relies heavily on great offensive line play vs the speed and angles schemes under Rio and Prieto. This year we have some of the best back 7 talent on defense since the Pickney and Perry days but the scheme is so complicated that I wouldn't be surprised to see the thought process paralyze some of their play-making ability for a second consecutive year. My fingers are crossed that coach Williams gets to exert more of his influence on that side of that ball this year. Really loving the impact that the DB coach from North Shore has had to this point also, looks like a totally different unit back there.

Offensively is where I'm the most worried. Yarbrough isn't really the between the tackles runners we've used to keep defenses honest in past years and Willis likes to hammer it in there whether it's working or not. I think we can supplement that by giving the Walter-like sophomore carries at the B-back position but didn't see a lot of that in the Spring. One positive is that T'Zion Fontenot moved back from Las Vegas this Summer and looks to be in good position to lock down his cousin's old spot at the A-back once he learns the offense. That gives us three high-quality play-makers out of the backfield if we can keep everybody healthy.

On paper we look good, but we looked good both physically and on paper last year too and won two games. I'm hoping another year in the system was all the kids needed to play up to their ability because if we struggle again this season I think the supt. will be under even more heat than she was last year.

Another SCARY name popped up on the Crosby Roster, any comments on another backfield addition.
