Win in a scary game 9-7.  Verlander pitched 4 almost 5 pretty good innings  Neris picks up the win Hader number 33 save,

Mariners handle Ranger and wi

Magic number 4

Looks like if we gonna clinch it will have to be with Mariners.

If it comes to that, I like our chances. Astros have Brown, Valdez and Kikuchi lined up for that  3 game series.

Blanco had 9Ks

Tucker with his second game in a row with 4 hits including a HR. Alvarez with 4 hits including a HR. Alvarez and Tucker with back-to-back HRs.

Aggie.  It looks like Stros wll make the 87 wins you talked about a couple of months ago.  90 is still in the making.

White Sox have lost 119.  Who would think in today's so-called parity in baseball that that can happen?

Looks like Tucker is back.

Yep. 90 wins is a real possibility but I am going to say they end with 89. After clinching the division in the 3 game series with Seattle, those last 3 games at Cleveland will mean nothing. I see Houston giving some players, including some pitchers, some time off during that series.

Astros get a win today, coupled with a Mariners loss, will put them up 6 with 6 to play. All they would need is one more win.

I predict Houston to clinch by Tuesday.

Well we lead a charmed life so to say.  Rangers beat Mariners 6-5 in bottom 9th.  Bull pen blows a good pitching job by Arrighetti and lose 9-8 and we were a little short on comeback in bottom of 9.  Led whole game almost.  they went ahead 6-5 we came back 7-6 they went ahead 9-7 in top of nine and we almost came back but a great game.  Too many great players today to mention who.

Astros just have to figure a way to keep Bregman around because he just shines on defense  3 great putouts to first.

Magic number still 3.  So now we have to take care of business.

Magic number is 2.

But it really is 1 if Houston wins any of the next three games vs. Seattle

I apologize for going to the game yesterday. They haven't won a game I've attended since June 2019, and I've been to multiple games every year since then, except the covid season in 2020. I promise to not go to any playoff games this year.

I hear ya.

My routine with the playoffs is I will start watching the games on TV first, then when the Astros lose, I go to radio only. I stick with whatever works the best. 2022 I listened to every game on the radio down on the beach.

I am all about superstition when it comes to playoff baseball.

Bregman reminds me of Brooks Robinson on some of his catch and throws. Need to pay the man.

Final $1.00 dog night in 2024.  Alex Bregman with a deep bomb to CF, Tuck with a bomb, and Jason Heyward with the difference maker and a great catch.  I owe Dana Brown an apology.  His signings of Yusei Kikuchi and Jason Heyward were the right moves.  I was critical...and I was WRONG!!!

    • That is hardly a representative police group. Starting off with “Leaders” is the first clue. Leaders (chiefs and sometimes assistant or deputy chiefs) are many times chosen by political connections or beliefs. The larger the city, the more likely. They are under the direct control of a city manager or mayor. There are certainly outliers who are truly good police officers and an example is just retired Beaumont PD Chief Singletary. Singletary commanded swat teams and narcotics units later into his career. When he was almost a 40 year officer, he was still out there mixing it up with the young guys and backing them up. I remember probably 15 years ago when I was in command on the evening shift and speaking with the night shift commander. I was talking about the misallocation of manpower in reference to the volume of calls and effective police work. Boy did I get an education from the other commander who was junior to me by a few years. He said something like,  “You are correct but you are thinking about like a police officer and the product that we are putting out. The city council doesn’t care about the police response, only how much money it will cost if an officer has to work overtime”.   What a slap in the face but he was correct. I was thinking of helping people by cutting response times and they were looking at different ways to spend their money.   Those sound like the “Leaders”. Yeah, out of almost a million law enforcement officers, dozens…. 🤣🤣🤣 Wow, that many? I looked at their website and you can sign up to help as “Academic” or “Non Police Supporter”. Go figure. There is absolutely a place for communities to get involved and be on committees with the police department. One of the best programs that I have seen or have been involved with was a citizen’s group that started completely on their own and later became involved with the police. They were awesome. Just don’t put them out as a national police group with any national influence.
