Nashville, TN - McNeese State had its two game winning streak halted in Nashville on Tuesday night, the Cowboys absorbing a 65-47 loss to Lipscomb.

Now 2-3 on the season, McNeese will be right back in action on Saturday when the team plays at Florida Atlantic in Boca Rotan.

The Cowboys trailed the Bisons for just about the entire contest, falling behind 10-2 after Jarvis Bradley had made a layup for the game's first basket.

Lipscomb was in front 16-4 with 12:33 left in the first half and went on to a 31-14 halftime lead.

The Cowboys came back in the second half, being outscored by only a single point - 34-33 - but it was too late as the Bisons won their third game in eight outings.

"The layoff we had may have hurt us some but Lipscomb played well also," Cowboy head coach Dave Simmons said. "We did better in the second half and that's what we will have to try to do, just play better with each coming game."

McNeese has not played since Nov. 20 when the Cowboys defeated Texas-Tyler. They had a Nov. 24 contest with Coastal Carolina at home cancelled because of a wet floor.

Simmons said that he was disappointed in the fact that his team made only eight of 15 free throw tries against Lipscomb and that the Cowboys committed 17 turnovers in the first half alone.

Lipscomb converted the Cowboy turnovers into 21 points.

McNeese had only one double figure scorer and that was senior guard John Ford who pitched in 12 points. Bradley, the team's leading scorer on the season, collected eight points but he only shot the ball five times, making four goals.

The Cowboys made 18 of 43 field goals but were only three of 15 from three point range, Ford going two for five.

Lipscomb's Michael Lusk led all scorers with 16 points and teammate Brandon Brown had 10.

McNeese outrebounded Lipscomb 32-28 with the 5-10 Ford taking the lead in that area also with seven caroms while Bradley had five.

The two teams will get back together on Dec. 19 when Lipscomb, which now holds a 1-0 edge in the series, makes a trip to Lake Charles.
