Prairie View missed two shots on its ensuing possession and Texas State's Brandon Bush got the defensive rebound. A Panthers' foul sent Texas State to the free throw line, and Prairie View got the rebound after a missed attempt. Prairie View got a final possession with 6 seconds remaining but Freddie Edo missed the desperation shot at the buzzer. Bush and Brent Benson led Texas State (5-1) with 19 points apiece. Brian Ezeh led Prairie View (2-4) with 23 points. Derek Johnson added 13 and Dorian McDaniel 12. Derek Johnson's 3-pointer with 1:28 left gave Prairie View the 77-75 lead after battling back from a 43-34 halftime deficit. Texas State shot 47 percent from the field for the game to Prairie View's 48 percent.
