Rice Stadium will be the location for a 5A playoff doubleheader, with the first game kicking off at 1 p.m. and the second game starting at 7 p.m. The 4A games will be taking place on Friday as Lamar Consolidated takes on New Braunfels high school at Texas State University, and the Berry Center will be the site for the Waller and Dayton match up. Waller and Dayton are facing off at the Berry Center on Friday in a 4A match up that will prove to be a good one. Dayton has been near unstoppable as of late, have dominated teams all year. The Broncos have shut out 5 different teams this season and have scored more than 40 points in 7 of their 13 games. Waller has turned it on since the start of the playoffs, knocking off Yates who had been undefeated until facing Waller. Waller has put up 70 points in the last two games and in both held their opponents to 14 points. The Mustangs of Lamar Consolidated has galloped through this season losing only two games to large 5A schools, College Park and Mayde Creek. The Mustangs’ running back Jacquizz Rodgers has been phenomenal all year rushing for 2,481 yards and 30 touchdowns on 370 carries. There were two places all year that you could find Rodgers, one being in the end zone and the second on our 11 to Watch List. Rodgers was at the top of our charts all year as he continued to put up crazy numbers week in and week out. The Mustangs will be representing the Houston area as they travel to Texas State to take on New Braunfels. It will be interesting to see if New Braunfels can slow down Jacquizz Rodgers, because there is no way of stopping him. On Saturday at Rice Stadium the first of our 5A games pits the North Shore Mustangs verse the Hurricanes of Hightower. The Mustangs are coming off last weeks solid win over the Bobcats of Cy Fair 45-31. North Shore’s player to watch is their quarterback Jeremiah McGinty. McGinty is a dual threat with both his arm and with his legs; he has 23 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing touchdowns. Sander15 / HSGameTime.comLast week the Hurricanes pulled off a last second miracle win over the highly touted Cy Ridge Rams. With less than 10 seconds left Jake Kane kicked a 50 yard field goal to seal the win over the Rams 24-21. Hightower quarterback AJ Highsmith has been a major factor behind his team’s strong playoff performance. Highsmith, who is a junior, has put up decent numbers this year throwing 21 touchdowns and has rushed for 4. The second part of the double header brings together two undefeated teams, and two very talented running backs. The Katy Tigers will face off against the Clements Rangers to see who can remain unbeaten and keep their state title hopes alive. The Tigers come in as the definite favorite, especially behind the power running provided by running back Aundre Dean. Dean has run over opposing defenses all year and will give the Rangers a real challenge. In the last two games he has rushed for over 300 yards 5 and touchdowns. The Rangers have a reliable work horse at running back in Chris Lenoir, in the last two games his team has put the ball in his hands when they needed it most and he has performed. Lenoir helped the Rangers in their come from behind win over West Brook and their win over Stratford. In the last two games he has rushed for 342 yards 5 touchdowns. 5A Sat 12/081:00 pm North Shore Mustangs Hightower Hurricanes (at Rice Stadium) Sat 12/087:00 pm Katy Tigers Clements Rangers (at Rice Stadium) 4A Fri 12/07 @ 7:30 pm Waller Bulldogs Dayton Broncos (at Berry Center) Fri 12/07 @ 7:00 pm Lamar Consolidated Mustangs New Braunfels (at Texas State)
liltex Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 there is no such thing in football as "UNSTOPABLE". the word is been hard to stop.i agree rodgers is great for football, and i admire what a young man his size has accomplished, but he has been contained.last week LM CONS.won in overtime 17-14 and i promise you DAYTON has that film ,should they play each other, the broncos speedy defense will slow him down considerally he is great, put up stats, but other tuff speedy running backs w/1800 season rush yds.were held to 54 tot.yds.each against the BRONCOS,and 2 qb,s w/1800 +passing yds.were held to total 48 & 91 pass yds.against the BRONCOS.
