KFDM COOP Posted December 5, 2007 Author Report Posted December 5, 2007 H-F stampedes by WO-S, 63-23Gabriel PruettThe Orange LeaderThere was a time not too long ago when it was the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs were the ones putting a bruising on opponents.Tuesday night in Mustang Gym it was the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns returning the favor as the visitors waltzed away with a 63-23 victory.WO-S (0-6, 0-1) actually came away with more turnovers, 33, than points as Hamshire-Fannett improved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 to start District 21-3A play.WO-S Coach James Thrash was short on words after the contest and could only say one will have to see Friday how the Lady Mustangs wil respond.“We are a better team than that,†Thrash said. “To only score 23 points in district at home, I cannot accept that.â€The Lady Longhorns got a game-high 17 points from Kendra Wright while Yvonne Vega finished with 11 and Chelsea Atkins added 10 points in the victory.Demitrius Heard had a team-high five points and eight rebounds for the Lady Mustangs. Earlisha Thomas, Kristin Lebouef and Michel’e Simpson each had four points for the Lady Mustangs.The second period is where the wheels started to fall off for WO-S after H-F was only up 16-7 after the first eight minutes.The Lady Longhorns started the second frame on a 11-0 run to take a 27-7 lead.WO-S did not score its first points in the second frame until there was 5:40 remaining on the clock.The Lady Longhorns would go on to outscore the Lady Mustangs 26-8 in the second to take a 42-15 lead into the break.Hamshire-Fannett would then outscore WO-S 14-4 in the third to take a 56-19 advantage into the fourth.H-F out-rebounded WO-S 32-25 in the game.WO-S was 2-for-7 from the free throw line while Hamshire-Fannett was 8-for-16 from the charity stripe.The Lady Mustangs return to action Friday with a home game against the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians.

twilyms Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Four freshmen on varsity. We really intimidated them from the get go. Also, they have no bench. They don't have enough players to make a JV. Our freshmen beat them 47-17. It could be a long year for them.
