Never would have guessed he'd have 2 power 5 offers before the end of his freshman year though. Can't wait to see him in action this upcoming season No, it was the Newton Running back. Quote

purpleeagle Posted May 16 Author Report Posted May 16 Found the site with Luke on it. He has had D1 offers from TT. 6’3” 180#. Very talented for his age. Good luck to this kid who has a bright future. Quote
longball24 Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Luke Babin now with 3 offers TT, Baylor an U of H. Quote

89Falcon Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 12 minutes ago, longball24 said: Yes he was. He is definitely a good looking player and I have no doubt that he is going to be a good QB in the future, but I find it shocking that he has those offers. I would expect a D1/P4 player to dominate 3A JV competition and he did not (at least to the level of that caliber of recruit). Quote

Some coaches "fall in love" with one kid while another one who might be as just good or even better gets little recognition. There are a lot of ways this can happen. A "legacy" kid with preferred last name, or a coaches/principals/school board/friends kid, or simply just a personality preference. I think this can be especially glaring in small school ball, but it can happen anywhere. College scouts don't care a bit about last names, etc. That, and they are just better talent evaluators overall than HS coaches and fans. longball24 1 Quote

Newton has had several kids with D1 offers that never made it to college because of their grades which the colleges now look at more closely. The Woodville kid is straight A’s. Is this kid originally from Brazil? Quote

Hard to believe he is that great of athlete at a smaller 3A and not playing varsity… I can promise you if Bellville had a freshman with any actual D1 capability he would be playing varsity… In some sports like football. Coaches are allowed to an early offer but remember verbal offers aren’t final until you sign the paper work later. That’s just a way for coaches to show interest, and things can change later. Quote

At this moment he is holding similar offers to Jett Suratt. I am anxious to see how he looks on Varsity this year. Quote

I don't know a whole lot about his family other than they're wealthy people who have had a hand in politics. I don't know them well enough personally to make statements concerning their character. But Luke's a good kid and a good athlete so judging by that I'd say they're good people. Quote
