Sabine in December?

Any word on the fishing in the lake?  Normally by this time I've been on the fish for a month or more, but I haven't been since Humberto.  It's been so warm that I'm not sure the birds have started working in earnest.

Has anyone heard anything that will make me dust off my rods and make a run?

Too many of the sportsmen have been out hunting. I haven't heard any reports from my usual sources. With deer season winding down, I need to get ready to fish again.

Sabine lake fishing is red hot right now and so is Sabine river. Birds working on both. Keeper fish !

I just love deer season cause everybody is in the woods. That means little or no traffic on the water.

I LOVE hunting season too, for the same reason...all those hunters get off my lake!

  DON'T KNOW ABOUT SABINE BUT I BEEN WATCHING WATCHING BIRDS WORK AND PRODUCE IN UNUSUAL PLACES WHILE I'M DUCK HUNTING. PM ME PNG IF YOU WANT DETAILS. 

 

  I HAD REDFISH TAILING IN THE DECOYS THIS WEEKEND IN ROCKPORT.  IF I'D HAD THE TIME I'D BEEN OUT CATCHING EM BUT THERE WERE TOO MAY DUCKS IN THE AIR.

I hear they have been catching speck in the north end of the lake

Actually, I've been the past 2 mornings (Fri & Sat) and done well.  You've gotta be there at daybreak and the bite doesn't last long, but it's fun and the fish are good sized.  Not a bunch of schoolies like in years past.

I get 8 weeks a year and this is my last one... being that it is at the end of the year. I will be off from December 26th to January 4th.

Fishing is still very hot on lake Sabine as of 12/27/07

Solid trout & reds will jump on most any plastic you can throw.

Gulls are everywhere !

Thanks Lucky.  I was going to try this morn (28th) but that storm last night kicked up some big winds.  Maybe Sat. morn.  What time of day did you fish and did the birds stay at it very long throughout the day?

It was my son who did the damage and he said the birds worked most of the day...he fished all morning till about 2:00pm.

He's on the lake again today (29th) and I'm at work !

He got his limit of trout by 10:00am (Dec. 29th) and had to come in because his fishing buddy did not feel well.
