Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 62-32 Lamar at half. LS ended the first half with a two handed slam.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Sorry, Lamar 62-30 at the half over Louisiana College. Daughter having birthday party with about 25 kids over here. Hard to hear the radio over the crowd in here.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 LSU-S beat Northwestern State! ???
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Wyoming beat Colorado. Maybe Lamar isn't that bad?

Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Final: 117-67 Lamar by 50 pts.
Guest coachacola Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Looks like Roc has found himself a starting lineup now. Dawkins and McThay are the leading scorers. Sanders and Nabors both played well. Nwevo started but didn't play too much. Brown finally had a good game, Worrell was solid.Hopkins and Barrow are still slumping, shooting 5-12 and 2-7, respectively. Everyone played of course, only Custer didn't score. Lamar shot 57%, and an amazing 51% from 3-point land. Now that there's no more cupcakes on the schedule, it's time for Lamar to start beating D1 teams. You can't read too much into these games but it's good to see 50 point win. Sam Houston downed Texas Tech, SFA beat Oklahoma tonight. Now it's time for Lamar to take out BYU.

We are supposed to be a D-1 program but the only schools we can beat are NAIA or D-III or whatever La College is. We've got to start beating some teams that actually matter.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 The only thing that matters is winning in conference. I admit I'm not thrilled beating NAIA or DIII schools but last year we beat BYU but struggled most of the year. In a conference like the SLC, they might get a team in the NIT and NCAA but they will not have two teams in the NCAA tournament. I want LU playing well in March nor December. There is a lot of the season left to be played. I doubt we beat BYU this season but as long as the Cardinals are competitive I'll still believe they can achieve their goals. BYU is a Top 25 team, OU, TT and some of the others SLC teams are beating aren't.I like to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges.

BYU is a Top 25 team, OU, TT and some of the others SLC teams are beating aren't.I like to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. OU is ranked 52nd, Texas Tech is ranked 65th, Wichita State is ranked 102. These are all teams that SLC schools have beaten this year. And why is it we've already gone from beating BYU last year to just hoping they can be competetive. That right there should tell you the outlook for this team. Based on our performance thus far, I fully expect us to get embarrassed. And we'll come up with some reasons why it's ok.As for comparing apples to apples:Oral Roberts is 111, Wyoming is 159, UNO is 161, and Northern Illinois is 243..and we played ORU and Wyoming at HOME and still couldn't win. I've been an LU fan for 28 years. The last 5-10 have worn me down to a nub. I'm tired...tired of the losing, tired of the excuses, tired of the 'moral' victories, tired of these other schools doing well and us continuing to suck. I hope you are right and I hope this awful start doesn't mean anything but I'm afraid it does. We don't play defense, we don't run any semblance of an offense, we don't have any big guys that can score, and our outside shooting has been lousy. I'm hoping for the best but fully expecting the worse. I appreciate coach Roc's commitment to LU but he obviously isn't ready to be a D-1 head coach. One of these days we are going to HAVE to hire a proven winner (one who's not an a-hole like Mike Deane was). Whether that's a proven winner in high school, jr college, NAIA, D III, D II, or D-I...I really don't know or care. Again, I think Marlin is an outstanding coach and so is McConathy...and Kaspar is right there behind them. Even in the little old SLC, Roc is way out of his league. (And, quite frankly, I thought all 3 out-coached Tubbs at the games I watched as well.)
