KFDM COOP Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Hoops - SFA men beats OU !!! SFA now 6-1, only loss @ TT
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 SFA 66 Oklahoma 62! That is huge for SFA and the conference. OU had just beat Tulsa pretty good.
westendfirst Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 SFA 66 Oklahoma 62! That is huge for SFA and the conference. OU had just been Tulsa pretty good.Great for them! And WE can beat Louisiana College...whoopity doo!!!(In case you haven't noticed, I have grown tired of our constant losing. It's sickening. We continue to be awful while schools with what I consider to have MUCH lesser programs continue to excel: SHSU, SFA, and NWSU (the past few years). When will we ever get a good coach again????? Will Tubbs please go after the Marlin or Kaspar or McConathy??? Please???????????????????Ok, ok, I won't throw in the towel just yet on Roc but I'm not impressed thus far.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 It was a great win for SFA but it's not like OU is a Top 20 program at this point. Congratulations on beating a Big XII school though. Anytime a SLC team can do this, it will make news!
Guest mffl Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Kaspar is not that good of coach. Trying to get McConathy or Marlin would make no sense for them... it would be lateral move to a school who hasn't had as much success as their current programs they have built.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 First, I'm a Coach Roc supporter. That doesn't mean I agree with everything the man says or does. That said, remember like everything else its about making the "most" money. Coach Roc makes the most in the SLC among head coaches by far. A couple of the above mentioned coaches I make more than. I agree it would be a lateral move but the argument could be made that they would make a lot more money at Lamar, better facilities and more fan support. It wouldn't be the first time a coach in the same conference jumped ship to Lamar. Do you remember Mike Newell? He coached at Arkansas-Little Rock who at the time was in the same conference as Lamar. Took them to a couple NCAA touraments and left for Lamar. It ended up bad for both parties but it's been done before.
AJ25 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 great game =] ppl were oowing and aawwing at tha lamar game when they announced it. lol
Guest mffl Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Yeah i'm good with coach roc right now.. im sure hes learning some things from this slide we had.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Come see me at the next game, there is something I think may interest you.
westendfirst Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Kaspar is not that good of coach. Trying to get McConathy or Marlin would make no sense for them... it would be lateral move to a school who hasn't had as much success as their current programs they have built. Are you serious?? You think it would be a lateral move for one of them. Have you ever been to one of their games? Have you ever seen their facilities? It may be a lateral move in the sense that our community has some to expect the LU basketball team to be awful but I don't think Simmons and Tubbs have come to accept that. And, I would imagine we pay much more than those schools pay their coaches. Also, in regards to Kaspar, have you ever been to a LU vs SFA game? He schools our coaches every time!
Guest mffl Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Yes and we lost to them in OT last year.
Guest coachacola Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Also, in regards to Kaspar, have you ever been to a LU vs SFA game? He schools our coaches every time! That must be why SFA has 3 wins against us in the last 9 games.
Guest mffl Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Come see me at the next game, there is something I think may interest you.Sure thing if your talkin to me abtr.
Guest abovetherim Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Sure thing if your talkin to me abtr. You're the one I'm referring to. I have a document with figures I think may blow you away. I'm not posting this information because it isn't public knowledge and I'd think your grandfather would know about this anyway. If he doesn't, I'm very surprised.
westendfirst Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 That must be why SFA has 3 wins against us in the last 9 games.Where do you get your stats:2001/2002: LU 57, SFA 56 SFA 65 LU 622002-2003: SFA 77 LU 73 SFA 74 - LU 622003-2004: LU 63 SFA 602004-2005: SFA 70 LU 602005-2006 LU 65 SFA 70 SFA 72 LU 542006-2007: SFA 73 LU 72SO, IN THE LAST 9 GAMES SFA HAS WON 6 AND WE'VE WON 3. LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT YOUR STATS BACKWARDS! ALSO KASPAR HAS THE 19TH BEST WINNING % AMONG D-1 COACHES WITH AT LEAST 5 YRS EXPERIENCE. HIS CAREER RECORD IS: Danny Kaspar 327-142!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!FINALLY, VISIT SFA'S WEBSITE AND YOU'LL WITNESS A PROGRAM HEADING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF OURS. (FOR THE RECORD...I HATE SFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)http://sfajacks.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/sasu-m-baskbl-body.html
Guest abovetherim Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 He also has ties to the Lamar basketball program as he was once an assistant under Billy Tubbs.I dislike SFA probably more than I dislike SHSU and anyone who knows me knows I can't stand the "better than you" attitude of some of their alumni. Because they play FCS football and have one SLC conference championship they know all there is to know about football and Lamar fan's, students, administration, alumni and supports don't know a thing about college football because Lamar hasn't fielded a team in 20 plus years.I hate to tell them Lamar is still second all-time in conference championships in the SLC and they only have one. For all my rambling, SHSU and SFA both have good roundball coaches in Kasper and Marlin. I'm just not ready to jump off the Coach Roc bandwagon after 1.5 years. Both Marlin and Kasper have been HC's for several years.Believe me after Kasper's first year at SFA there were some fan's who wanted his head. He wasn't the most popular man in town!
Guest coachacola Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Where do you get your stats:2001/2002: LU 57, SFA 56 SFA 65 LU 622002-2003: SFA 77 LU 73 SFA 74 - LU 622003-2004: LU 63 SFA 602004-2005: SFA 70 LU 602005-2006 LU 65 SFA 70 SFA 72 LU 542006-2007: SFA 73 LU 72SO, IN THE LAST 9 GAMES SFA HAS WON 6 AND WE'VE WON 3. (FOR THE RECORD...I HATE SFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)http://sfajacks.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/sasu-m-baskbl-body.htmlActually we're both wrong according to kenpom.com:2001/2002: Lamar 57, Stephen F. Austin 56, Lamar 65, Stephen F. Austin 62, Lamar 53, Stephen F. Austin 36 (LU sweep)2002/2003: Stephen F. Austin 74, Lamar 62, Stephen F. Austin 77, Lamar 73 (SFA sweep)2003/2004: Lamar 63, Stephen F. Austin 60 (LU win)2004/2005: Stephen F. Austin 70, Lamar 60 (SFA win)2005/2006: Lamar 70, Stephen F. Austin 65, Stephen F. Austin 72, Lamar 54 (split)2006/2007: Stephen F. Austin 73, Lamar 72 (SFA OT win)10 games, 5 wins apiece. And how many post-season games has SFA played since Kasper's been there? For me, that's what counts.I know we're all tired of LU losing. But I've been following LU since the early 80s and I'm going to keep following LU until I'm dead. If that means another 20 years of busted dreams, then so be it.
