KFDM COOP Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 www.smoaky.com ***Breaking News*** UIL Approves Rule Change on Flipping Coins for Championship Sites They should just call this the "Highland Park" rule, Smoaky... ***** The rule prevents a school from being forced to flip for a playoff stadium that can't accomodate its fans. If there is a dispute, the U-I-L will determine whether a stadium is adequate, based on fan attendance at the school's previous game. The rule change comes from a controversy over last season's Class 4-A Division One State Championship Game between Highland Park and Marshall. Highland Park fans were in an uproar throughout the week before the game because they felt the 12-thousand seat TMF Rose Stadium was too small for the amount of interest in the game. Highland Park wanted to play at Texas Stadium. Highland Park beat Marshall 59-0 to win the state championship.
Guest Living 4 Friday Nights Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Well at least changes are being made.
RadioGuy Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I second the motion to call it the HIGHLAND PARK RULE. Now honestly, would any other school besides HP get this changed. So much for "winning" a coin toss, huh.
Guest Living 4 Friday Nights Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 UIL getting some work done this week for a change.
KFDM COOP Posted June 13, 2006 Author Report Posted June 13, 2006 Very good though on the seating situation. People can drive long distances now and not have to worry about seating.
Guest Living 4 Friday Nights Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I can almost guarantee the rich folk at Highland Park had something to do with this??
txsportsfan Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 PNG could certainly pull more fans than Highland Park. 12,000 or more we have for Mid-county Madness
