lamarsports
you think there would be more local kids on the roster.
Tiger90
you think there would be more local kids on the roster.I was thinking quite the opposite. I believe I counted 18-19 just from the Golden Triangle. They had a good representation of the area, but if anything this would solidify that it will take more than just this area's players to have a winning program. Guest abovetherim
18 to 19 out of 90+ athletes.maybe im not seeing this correct but i thought there would be more.Lamar didn't have 90+ athletes on the football team. At the FCS formerly I-AA level you have 63 scholarships and maybe 20 walkons. For, me there is one other thought and that is Houston is only 80 miles from Beaumont and you add those athletes to you count and it would be over half the team.I will admit, I was surprise there wasn't more kids from places like Jasper, Newton, PN-G and Nederland. That said, there was more players from PA, Beaumont and Orange than I remembered. I hope the future coach hits SE Texas hard but I'm for getting the best athlete at each position. Remember we've given McNeese a strong hold on SE Texas by dropping football for 20 plus years. Those guys know SE Texas is the life line of their football program. It's not like other schools are going to quit recruiting SE Texas the day Lamar announces the return of football.
