1990 - Terry Puhl signs a free agent deal with the New York Mets, ending his 14-year run with the ballclub. Puhl compiles a .281 average in Houston, topping the .300 mark three times. A dependable fielder, Puhl also makes only 18 errors during his career.

1975 - Second baseman Tommy Helms is traded to Pittsburgh for a player who would later be named as infielder Art Howe. Helms completes a four-year run in Houston with a .269 average and 185 RBIs.

1965 - Astros fire Luman Harris as manager after just over one season at the helm. General Manager Grady Hatton is named as the new skipper.

1964 - While the official name will remain the Harris County Domed Stadium, Judge Roy Hofheinz introduces his new ballpark as the "Astrodome" for the first time while displaying the team's new logo of baseballs in orbit around a likeness of the new stadium.
