Looking at their schedule they are pretty good but I'll take the Cards in a upset. LU by 4.

This team is only going to get better. Here is a story on Kalis Loyd earlier this month making news in a large Texas city.

Lamar's women's basketball team signed one of the premier players in the international ranks when 6-1 guard Kalis Loyd committed to the Lady Cardinals last week.

"Kalis brings our program continued credibility around the globe," said Lamar coach Larry Tidwell. "She has a wealth of athletic ability, top-notch international experience against some of the best players in Europe and a genuine passion for the game."

Loyd, 18, who comes to Lamar from Malmô, Sweden, was a member of the under-16 and under-18 Swedish youth national teams, leading the squad to a bronze medal in the 2006 European Championships.

She averaged 22 points, 9.4 rebounds, six assists and five steals per game last season. Loyd is the latest in a series of international signings by Lamar, which has five players on its roster from outside the United States.

"She is a true point guard," Tidwell said. "Being all of 6-1, she can create a lot of mis-matches for opposing teams."
