AggiesAreWe Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 I find it very odd that Garrett Riley of Muleshoe was named class 2A player of the year but yet was listed as a 2nd team all-state quarterback. That doesn't seem right.
highsky Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 well, I find it odd that Marsh was credited with 17 tds, when I thought he had 21. Also, may be a homer pick here, but Nolan had better stats than the QB from Canadian. Nolan finished with over 3,000 yards passing along with 38 tds. I don't know...maybe if I had information on every player like the All-State committee does, then I could make a judgement.Plus, I agree with AggiesAreWe about the Riley kid from Muleshoe...very confusing...you would think that the Offensive POY would also be a first team selection, instead of a second.

That way, all stats would be on an equal amount of games. Also, the AP all-state teams were voted on right after the regular season, so no playoff influences were involved.
playdefense Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 How does a guy with over 100 tackles and 11 INT with 3 returned for TD's not make it on defense.

Bucster Posted December 18, 2007 Author Report Posted December 18, 2007 Sure are a lot of kids from the Panhandle & Tyler areas listed. Appears that Jon Mark Beilue & Lance Lahnert from the Amarillo Daily News did a pretty good job of promoting their local kids.

Appears that Jon Mark Beilue & Lance Lahnert from the Amarillo Daily News did a pretty good job of promoting their local kids.I agree, year in and year out, you see the same core schools well represented. Its supposed to not consider the play-offs, but it seems like the names always come from the "AP" list. Like they're justifying their polls.
Guest Bucs1995 Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 I dont mean this ugly in any way, but the Hardin kid is better than Tramine? Please tell me!!!
BUCman Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 Tremain definitely should have been on the 1st team in the secondary. None of those kids had nowhere near the numbers he did. 11 ints. is enough by itself. This is a travesty. He'll get the last laugh though when he is playing D1 football, and the rest of them aren't.

BUCman Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 If you really want to get into this, I will take you up on your offer. CC may have finished 3rd in that district but they were by far the second best team in that district. Against Hemphill, who finished 2nd, they fumbled the ball about 5 times. Twice going in for td's. Plus they played newton to a 5 or 6 pt. game, while Newton blew everyone else out. The team that EC lost to definitely was not a bad team. Don't say that those kids weren't prepared, because I know that coaching staff and they were more than prepared for that game.
