The day that Trump took office, our nation debt stood at 19.9 Trillion dollars (End of Q4, 2016).  After his tax cuts (without corresponding cuts in spending), the national debt stood at 23.2 Trillion dollars at the end of Q1 of 2020 that was the Start of COVID, FYI... Or a total increase in debt of almost 17% during Trump's first three years (and one quarter) in office.  At the end of his reign (with COVID spending for which Trump himself signed off on) was at 27.7 Trillion Dollars.  That's a 39% increase in the National Debt while Trump was in office.

For further reference, Biden inherited a 27.7 Trillion dollar debt to start.  At the end of Q4 2023, the debt stands at 34 Trillion.  That's an increase of 19% over the first three years.

I know that math and facts hurt your feelings, but Trump was horrible for the country before he allowed "them Dirty Democrats to shut down the economy."  Anybody that says "Trump was good for the country" doesn't know the first thing about micro/macro economics or the effects of deficit spending.  Trump hurt us like no other president, period.

Anybody that says "Trump was good for the economy" is actually stating for the rest of us with some sense "I don't know what I'm talking about."

Apparently TDS can do some crazy stuff to some people. Why would you say my feelings are hurt? I'm just sitting back laughing at you making a fool of yourself. In fact, my feelings are in high spirits. Your cognitive analysis is worse than your fiscal analysis, and that is hard to beat.

Just to expound a little further, so you are not confused...I, along with so many others, are laughing at your desperation. You are working overtime, nay, double even triple time, trying to convince normal people Trump was bad for the country. His policies provided for peace all over the world, low gas prices, low food prices, energy independence, closed border, low inflation, record low unemployment, and on and on and on. You try to counter this narrative by saying unemployment skyrocketed on his watch. You said this knowing full well the unemployment rate went up due to Covid. Your narrative is just so laughable, to the point of side-splitting hilarity. Who would even attempt this asinine narrative?

Now, even if you get past the utter stupidity of that MSNBC talking point, you provide another side-splitting hilarious tidbit of evidence to back your claim of Trump being bad for the country. You actually tried to tie the stock market going down to Trump...after Covid. You, I, and everybody else knows the stock market was flourishing under Trump...until Covid hit. This argument is just as bad as the other one. Again, who would even attempt this narrative?

The only thing you could remotely muster that had any sliver of truthfulness, is that spending increased. Sure, Trump rebuilt the military and gave them a deserved raise. But he also had to shut down the government due to Democrats demanding an even more, and very detrimental, increase in spending. And in a true extremely exaggerated fashion, you proclaim that spending "skyrocketed". Again, who would even attempt this narrative?

I think I can smell the desperation. Do you have any other whoppers to contribute?

My question is why do those of you that are staunch Republicans, like me, engage this foolishness?  We have idiots on college campuses behaving like 1930's Germany and you all engage this thread. Where the hell is our next Rush Limbaugh to teach you all again to leave the defense alone and attack the lefts evil and foolish ways. Cardinal just beat you all to hell simply by having any of you having a single response to this. He defined the narrative for 5 pages of waste.  Pull your heads out and quit!

Simple response if you have to have one on this topic it's I DONT GIVE A DAMN.

Now when and if he, U of Cal at Austin Alum,  or Big Pronoun Lover responds, I will not.  Leave it be! Discuss the things that matter

5 pages of a set up and you all took it. Disappointing!

Can you please explain how CardinalBacker just beat me all to hell? He embarrassed himself. Does that qualify in your mind as "beating you all to hell"?

What was the setup? CardinalBacker spreading false information?

I'm fascinated with this post. I don't understand any of it, but still fascinated. Please elaborate for us minions that supposedly just got schooled. You have my attention.

Good speech, maybe you should start a thread teaching us how to behave on the forum, lol.

Do you understand what you read? Or did you even try to read it?

Trump added almost as much debt in four years as Obama added in eight, and you’re proud of that fact?

Before you can say “COVID,” I’ll say “housing crisis of 2008.”

Pretty funny this list doesn't include Merrick Garland.  I was fine with the result, but it was also total BS, and had dems done the same thing the right would've acted in similar fashion.

Not funny at all. Apples and oranges. They stalled it for sure. But in NO WAY was Garland treated to the assaults, lies and circus that BK and ACB endured.

Are you still trying to defend yourself? I love it. Literally LOL!

Update: I just realized a fellow poster proclaimed you schooled us on this topic, so I can see now how that must have buoyed your confidence to continue. My bad. Carry on.

Never said I was proud of anything, I was simply pointing out that you were spewing incorrect information.

Quit pretending to be a conservative, come on out and admit what you really are, you’ll feel so much better.

That there’s not a single thread on the fact that the Republican nominee is on trial for paying off a porn star with whom he had an affair while the future First Lady was carrying said nominee’s child.

I remember back when the dirty, no-good Dems sacked Gary Hart over something similar. Same thing with John Edwards and later Anthony Weiner.

But y’all keep pretending God is on your side, lol.

Professor Shugerman had a piece yesterday (In The New York Times) explaining the ways in which the Alvin Bragg case against Trump is quite thin gruel and a very bad idea, calling it an embarrassment and a mistake. Kudos to him.

Here’s the thing. I keep dropping facts on you, and you keep on knee-jerk saying “all lies!” I’ve asked you multiple times to point out whatever I’ve said that is factually wrong…but you can’t.  You might not like the facts, and they might make your eyes sweat a little… but it doesn’t change the fact that they are as true. Heck, deep down inside you might even know that Ol’ CB is right, but you believe Trump isn’t to blame. That, sir, does not turn the truth into a lie. What you should have said was is “that may be true, but I’m giving Trump a pass because…” Not “that’s a lie” when the numbers don’t lie.

But for you and everyone that  believes Trump was good for the economy, I’ll give another of my beloved and informative analogies that might help you finally understand.

A man handles his Family’s finances.  He makes a decision that life could be better, so he’s like “this is our year!” He stops all contributions to retirement accounts (cuts taxes) then proceeds to book a trip to Disney, buys nice things for the family and maxes out all possible lines of credit…. Now they’re facing bankruptcy.  The kids (y’all) are now arguing “things were so much better when  Dad (Trump, also your Daddy) was in charge! We had nice things!”

The man set us on a course for ruin with deficit spending, then it accelerated with COVID, then he was such a pig that Biden got elected, and now we’re facing another “anybody but Trump” loss in the November, guaranteeing four more years of nonsense from which we’ll probably never recover. The debt is just insurmountable. We shouldn’t be surprised, either.  Trump has always been a “borrow as much as we can and pray (errrr, hope….not pray. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t do a lot of that) that it all works out” as evidenced by his businesses which have repeatedly bankrupted.

I think you’re missing my point- I also believe the prosecution is a mistake, but that’s not the point.

I’m confused that Conservative Christian Right-wing Republican straight white American male family first Trump voters are ignoring the fact that Trump did, in fact, do that awful thing…. But are instead focused on the fact that he’s being accused of covering it up.

There’s obviously no decency or morality in MAGA. But they still believe themselves to be exactly that… the side of decency and morality. It would be funny if the stakes weren’t so high.

I think we can throw decency and morality out the window for the whole lot - both Left, Right & In Between. And since that can no longer be the barometer, I'm going to choose who I think is best. And it's not Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar,  Pramila Jayapal - I could keep going, but I think you get the point.

That's so cute. You actually think you "keep dropping facts" that prove Trump was bad for the economy. You have yet to "drop" one fact that proves your point. Trump's policies were good for the economy, and you can't give any refuting "facts".

Your little analogy comes from some Liberal fantasy land that applies to Democrats. I've seen people fart better scenarios. Trump shut down the government to prevent your little lie from becoming reality. TDS is a hell of a drug apparently.

But keep trying...it might be embarrassing for you but it is entertaining for us.

After all, you're the one who brought up the DSM-5... I simply added to your reference about what it includes.

How do you surmise from my post that I am saying I have a copy. Do you regularly read things that aren't written? If so, that book may or may not help you. I don't know.

Do you feel you are a decent and moral person? You try to group all MAGA supporters (including me) as lacking those things. Do you include yourself as having these values, especially after looking at the way you treat others? Are you above MAGA folks in moral standing? Are you above me in moral standing? Are you directly impugning my moral standing because I will choose to vote a certain way?

Tell me again, who lacks decency and morality?

Pretty much sums it up for me.  I'll take the unethical guy and hope that he sticks with similar policy to what he did the first time, but no way i actually trust him.  It's still mind-blowing to me that this is the matchup we have for the second election running.
