Kevin Foster has resigned as head basketball coach from Big Sandy. He will remain there as the Elementary principal.

3 state appearances (2x runner-up, 1 state semifinalist)
7 regional tournaments
20 district championships

Coach Foster and I had talked earlier in the season and he told me this might be his last year to coach but still wasn't sure. Well, he is sure now.

It's been a great privilege to cover his teams. I always enjoy watching his teams play. They are always one of the best coached teams year in and year out.

But it's more of an honor and privilege to call Kevin my friend. He is just an absolute great man. He and his dad are the reasons I am a big Big Sandy fan.

I will miss Coach on the sidelines. Just won't be the same without him. But I also know we will keep in touch and he will be greeting me when I attend Wildcat basketball games.

Congrats Coach Foster!!! Job well done my friend!

What an incredible career. Had the opportunity a few times to attend the BS tournament during the recent state runs they had and wow. His teams always had the utmost respect for him and it showed. Some mighty big shoes to fill, but you gotta think there are gonna be some quality applicants for this one.

Very well said.  I’ve always said he’s the most underrated coach in our area.  In my book, no one “taught” the game better than Coach Foster.  And it showed watching his teams play.   And as great a coach as he is, he’s an even better person.  That’s saying something.

That Brian Beech is a great sports writer.  He has a way to make a losing team in a game look like they are the best.

Yo know how I feel about Coach Foster.  I will miss him also.

This next school year will be the first in many, many years that the name Foster will not be walking the halls in Big Sandy.  Kevin’s uncle, Thomas Foster, as well as Kevin, are synonymous with Big Sandy.  I’m glad that I’ve had the privilege of watching Kevin coach for many years.  I count him as a friend, and he will be missed walking the sidelines next year.  Good luck to him and his family on whatever the future holds for them!  Maybe one day, one of his boys will add to the Foster legacy at Big Sandy.

I can’t say enough good things about Kevin 

 

coach Foster allowed me to grow into the coach I am today, he was a great mentor and leader of young men and that is the most important thing I learned from Coach Foster

Coach Foster hired me and allowed me to run my own program and never micro manged anything and was always our biggest fan, because of that I became his biggest fan 

I will always tell people I am where I am today because of him 

thank you coach for believing in me and hiring me

His assistant, Flowers. Former coach at Broaddus I believe. Young guy
