Division 1/Division 2 For All Sports?

I have heard from multiple legit sources that the UIL is on the verge of making every sport the same as football as far as every level having two divisions. My question is, is this actually happening and if it is, will it go in effect immediately or in 2 years for next realignment? I have heard both options, so just curious.

Not happening any time soon. Just being discussed. It's a questionnaire phase right now sent to Supts. and AD's.

Understand. A few of the ones I talked to said otherwise but that does not mean they are right.

Agree and from my understand, it is going to for sure. Only question is when it will take place.

Lots of Travel issues for this in other sports.  

Football is 4-5 road trips a year on Friday night-Saturday

Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball etc is 15+ road trips on some school nights.

My understanding would be it wouldn’t split in the other sports until the playoffs start… like how 6A does football currently

I was just told about this yesterday.

It will be after regular season ends then split for playoffs so this will not effect the realignment.

My earlier comments were about having district realigned for divisions. That will have to come later.

State basketball tournament will now be state championship games only. No semifinals. Friday and Saturday (6 games each day). Semifinals will be held at wherever the venues the two coaches agree upon. Also, no more regional tourneys.

Personally, I don't like this change if it does happen.

It all depends on how it benefits your school… if your a larger school in your classification then you probably won’t like it… At least I wouldn’t.
