Bridge City hires Andrew Daspit

I have been told that head coach Randall Robertson has been reassigned.

Very curious as to what happened here. Coach Robertson has done very well as head coach. 2nd place finish in district last year which is the highest finish for the Cards in several decades.

Smalley should be embarrassed by this move. Anyone that truly knows him isn't surprised at all though.

This will be a good position for at least the next two years. Really good group about to be juniors. 
 

Shocked by this move as well. Robertson was one of the top coaches in the area in my opinion.

He was first assistant on varsity.

Did he play or coach around here before? I know that name from somewhere other than LCM....

Andrew was a four year varsity player at LCM.  He was then a student assistant at Lamar for three years with Tic Price.  He also played a major role in LCM making two straight runs to the regional quarterfinals.  He's a high energy, great young coach.  Bridge City will be very pleased with this hire.

This could be saying something about the prospects of BC and LC-M basketball.

The AD could be playing a factor as well.

I don't think he was referring to the Bridge City AD.

If he is referring to LC-M, Jeffcoat was not fired or reassigned. He resigned.

I don't think anyone was "railroaded".

His basketball achievements were not what got him reassigned. The coach did have other responsibilities that he failed to take care of from what I know.

Like in many cases, he wasn't there just to coach basketball.
