TABC Showcase Games

Recommended Posts

Onalaska 64
Faith Academy Marble Falls 69

Cardiac Cats fall short in game 1 of TABC Showcase with a back & forth battle that came down to the wire.

D. Leleux 13
D. Vienneau 17
B. Topkins 14
W. Reyes 11
K. Deal 8
S. Green 2

The 3 headed monster of Vienneau, Leleux and Topkins is going to give people problems. Vienneau is back after missing his sophomore season and brings a whole new level of guard play.

Give Faith Acadmey credit they went 23/25 from ft line and their 6’10 post is tough to keep off the boards.

Kountze beat Chapel Hill 54-49. It’s was a good game. Chapel Hill had a good showing this weekend as well.

Yes that was a great game. Lots of runs and fun to watch. The defense and Sells really helped seal that win.

Onalaska didn’t get the wins but it for sure showed a ton of positives of what is to come especially with when the full roster is together. After graduating 70% of the offensive scoring it was nice to see a lot of players ready to step up and while missing one starter.

Onalaska 50
Van Alystne 58

Cardiac Cats traded leads back & forth until the end and fell short this game.

D. Vienneau 19
B. Topkins 18
W. Reyes 4
D. Leleux 4
J. Pinkert 3
S. Green 2

Onalaska 47
Graford 57

D. Vienneau 15
D.Leleux 12
B. Topkins 10
W. Reyes 4
S. Green 3
D. Jennings 3

Wins maybe weren’t there this weekend but they will be in the mix with split divisions and will likely win the district championship this upcoming year.

Kountze would probably have at least a 50 percent chance at beating Silsbee this year.

Those were some fun days when it was a rivalry going back and forth. Some of us want to relive that, even if it is temporary.

Maybe… Rice would give Kountze fits… that would be the main issue.

Silsbee would be favored but would definitely be a game I would drive to see.  I couldn’t be more impressed with what Kountze did at TABC.  Played far from a cupcake schedule and really handled business.  I’ve said many times SETX basketball is at its best when certain teams (including Kountze) are good.  They will be plenty good this year and have a chance to make a real run at it.

The playoffs being split into big school small school did Kountze a huge favor… that should take Hitchcock out of the equation

is Westwood D1 or D2 ?

Mexia, Fairfield, Groesbeck and Teague all have higher enrollments than Westwood. Any two of those make playoffs that will put Westwood DII.

I predict Mexia and Fairfield to make playoffs therefore putting Westwood DII.

Indeed.  There are several teams, including Kountze, who are good enough to win state sans Hitchcock.  That school just has an unreal amount of size and athleticism for 3A.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
