I am afraid it will be the same under Brooks as usual. Maybe they can be in the middle of the pack in conference

Exhibition loss to DII LSU Alexandria last night, 83-80. Their best returning player, Hamilton, only played 10 minutes and arguably their best scorer, BB Knight didn’t play at all.  Haven’t seen the new players yet and they seemed to rely heavily on two of the juco transfer guards.  I will say I did see a postseason LSU-A game last year and the Natt kid who hit the game winner last night would be an all-conference type player in the SLC.  But you never want to lose to a lower division school, even in an exhibition game, especially at home, especially leading by 9 at half.  Cards put up 51 in the first half, but when the stop falling, just don’t have the defense to rely upon and struggle keeping people from getting to the basket. 
 

Having said all that, saw McNeese in a controlled scrimmage.  They are even better than last year and without a tremendously off game, won’t be tested in that league.  High mid-major roster in a low major league.

Lost 97-71 at A&M.  Most of that damage was done in the first half.  Played pretty evenly after the intermission.  The two top returners (Hamilton and knight) still playing limited minutes off the bench, not sure if that’s injury related.  The kid from West Brook, Holifield, continues to impress.  The biggest problem for the Cards continues to be defense.  Teams always seem to shoot a high percentage from 3 against Lamar.

How long are going to keep Brooks. They are about as bad as you can get. They are getting beat by funky dink teams. Appears that they will be Southland Conference cellar dwellers this season

Quickly heading for another 20 loss season. There are some other really bad teams in Southland though.

Not only a win but a 32 point win on the road in conference. Also, second straight conference win on the road to open conference play.

Call me shocked to say the least.

Not only that, but against a team picked near the top of the conference by many insiders, who just beat SFA earlier this week.

Lamar won at Ragin Cajuns today 74-45. Cajuns not good this year. Next at Southern Mississippi then Texas Tech.  Looking forward to see how we play these two games on the road to see if some real improvement has been made.

lamar lost by 26 to T A&M.  
hopefully Lamar at least covers.  Who knows maybe this is a let down game for raiders

Lamar basketball is doing very well in conference and I hope they keep it up and become conference champions

This I do know as well as both of you.  They play in one of the weakest conferences in D1 NCAA basketball and whoever wins the conference will either get a 15 or 16 seed or a playin game and unfortunately get blown out by a 1 seed. The committee knows the SLC is very weak

The answer to y’all’s question which both of you already know; are the Cardinals any good?  For the SLC possibly, but in reality NO they are not!  That’s about as truthful as I can get
