We love to bitch and moan about coaches/coaching but aren’t so quick to give credit where it’s due. Lamar has improved every single year under Brooks’ tenure. I don’t know how much more you can ask for, especially when the one team finishing ahead of you is paying to get players who have played, could play for some lower power 4/5 schools. Marco Born was pretty much a train wreck as AD at Lamar but I think we can safely say he got this one right. Not only has Alvin Brooks done a good job building this program, he’s a fine man who is 100% loyal to the University. Let’s give credit where it’s due. In my opinion Lamar is fortunate to have Brooks. lamar being his Alma mater is the”fortunate “ part because I believe he could ve went elsewhere that had a better program. he inherited a mess when it came to players, their attitudes and mental make up. Absolutely. Not many coaches would see Lamar as a “destination job.” He is one of the few. He told many people when he got the job that, one way or another, this would be his last stop. And if you know him, he means what he says. Personally, I hope he’s got several years left in him. Quote
