We love to bitch and moan about coaches/coaching but aren’t so quick to give credit where it’s due. Lamar has improved every single year under Brooks’ tenure. I don’t know how much more you can ask for, especially when the one team finishing ahead of you is paying to get players who have played, could play for some lower power 4/5 schools. Marco Born was pretty much a train wreck as AD at Lamar but I think we can safely say he got this one right. Not only has Alvin Brooks done a good job building this program, he’s a fine man who is 100% loyal to the University. Let’s give credit where it’s due. rc2182, 5GallonBucket, Mr. Buddy Garrity and 2 others 5 Quote

In my opinion Lamar is fortunate to have Brooks. lamar being his Alma mater is the”fortunate “ part because I believe he could ve went elsewhere that had a better program. he inherited a mess when it came to players, their attitudes and mental make up. Absolutely. Not many coaches would see Lamar as a “destination job.” He is one of the few. He told many people when he got the job that, one way or another, this would be his last stop. And if you know him, he means what he says. Personally, I hope he’s got several years left in him. Quote

Them and Joe Lunardi seem to be on the same page. A 12 to me always beats a 5 in the tournament too. ........but I sure would like Lamar to spoil it for em. 5GallonBucket 1 Quote

Maybe even a play in. Quote

Do you have McNeese making tourney still if Lamar pulls out the upset and southland sending 2? would be cool to see Houston vs Lamar round 1… brooks vs his old boss… Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
spidersal Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago If Lamar does what they usually do, they will lose their 1st game. Hopefully better this year! Quote

I don't see McNeese losing, but if they did, then I can see them making NCAA tourney if the vast majority of the conference tourneys go chalk. No surprise auto bids. But I tend to still think no matter who wins SLC, it will be a one bid conference. Quote
