In bold: I was telling someone at the half if LU shoots the 3 better in the 2nd half it would be a dub, they shot it worse in the 2nd half unfortunately.

Congrats to Coach Brooks and Lamar.  The Cardinals competed.  Untimely TOs by the Cardinals in the second half, FT shooting, McNeese blocking everything Lamar put up near the rim, and it's hard to win on the road against a good McNeese team at home.  Scrappy, chippy game.  Almost had a brawl in Lake Charles.

McNeese could be as high as a 13 seed.

SLC is ranked 20th as a conference. Was 30th last year.

I've seen several projections as a 12. Either way I think they win at least one game in the Big Dance.

Thank you for acknowledging that they are in a weak conference!

They have guys on their bench Lamar would have no chance of getting due to the NIL they command.  Their top 3 guys, coming off the bench, were Saint Louis’s leading scorer last year (top tier mid major program) and two guys who started games for Arizona State and Ole Miss.  Their bench players.  They have more than one guy making 6 figures.  In short, every player that plays for them could arguably be Lamar’s best player.  They have a high mid major roster if you ask anyone who knows their butt from their elbow about college basketball.  So yes, Alvin has improved Lamar’s record every season he’s been there.  He played a team with a roster WAYYYY better than his very competitively twice in the past couple of weeks.  You guys expecting them to win the conference need to start raising money.  Because you give Will his roster and give him Will’s roster, those games have the same winner.   It’s about the dudes and McNeese has bought a bunch of them.

You are correct it is about the players and Brooks struggles recruiting but I have to admit that he should be SLC coach of the year this year. My post is very accurate on being in an extremely weak conference A rating of 20 in conferences is pretty poor(30 last year was awful)

Give Brooks a half a mil per year to “recruit” like Will has and I bet his recruiting improves tremendously.  I would say he’s recruited pretty damn well finding guys who can compete with little to no funds.

Point well taken. Simply stating recruiting at Lamar, a commuter college with very little athletic support is very tough. The college is ugly, in a poor part of town and refineries right next to the gym makes recruiting tough. I am sure Brooks is doing the best he can do

That being said, their season is over unless they are invited to a tournament of the Rinky Dinks

So Lamar needs to up root the entire university and move to greener pastures, Correct?

Not going to happen, so they will continue struggling in the recruiting aspect. What the city of Beaumont with the help of Lamar is to revitalize the South Park area close to the college. Probably won’t happen and as Trump would say what a dumb statement by AggiesAreWe. I enjoy most of your post. however that was inappropriate I was stating why they struggle recruiting and those reasons are  Hugh part of it. You think that is why they struggle in every athletics program !!!

TxHoops is correct in stating that if Lamar invested in NIL like McNeese has, the recruits will come in spite of the location of the university.

That is my point.

Looks like Lamar Woman decline to participate in the WNIT… I wonder as to why…?

Costs.

No NCAA money to support that tourney.

Lamar men's team should have got an NIT invite. Saw a few of the teams that are playing NIT. Lamar had a better resume than a few of those teams.

Question would have been if Lamar would have accepted the invite?

Makes sense… I guess what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If they said no for women’s gotta say no for men’s..

Lamar had a good record this season 20-13. It was a better season than the last several years, however they were not good enough to get invited to any post season tournament IMO Hopefully they will improve next year  The only SLC to get invited a tournament is the winner because it is a weak conference

You obviously haven't looked at the teams that were invited to NIT.

I'm not saying Lamar should get an invite but they certainly should have over a few of the teams that did. That is my point.
