Do any of you liberals have a sense of humor, lol.

I wouldn’t call myself a liberal but I’m probably left of most people who post regularly on this board (and right of most of the folks y’all like to argue with except for probably Cardinal Backer).  And @AggiesAreWe’s DEI post may be the funniest thing I’ve read on this board that was actually intended to be funny.  Of course, when he posts in this forum I’m always on high alert because I know how much he loves the politics portion of this website 😂

Always enjoyed the back and forth with you, but come to realize we agreed on more than we disagreed on.  The post from AAW was funny, I actually laughed out loud on that one.

What's to compare?  Neither Vice President Harris nor President Trump served in the military.  If I remember correctly, President Trump received a deferment and I don't think Vice President Harris enlisted or was drafted.  The issue of military service seems to be a wash.  Same with education. President Trump has an undergraduate degree in economics. Vice Presidence Harris has an undergraduate degree in political science and she has a law degree.  Neither one graduated at or near the top of his/her class.  President Trump has had at least four business file for bankruptcy protection.  Vice President Harris, none.  Granted, I'm not sure that she has been an executive for any business, (I have not looked) but, that said, she hasn't had to file for bankruptcy protection in her personal or professional life.  If she had, we would have read about it by now on Fox News or the political forum of www.setxsports.com.  So, we know President Trump has experience riding businesses into the ground.  Both candidates have allegedly had sex either outside of their own marriage or outside the marriage of their sex partner.  Seems the sex life allegations are a wash.  Both candidates have said things that aren't true and both candidates have said things they would probably like to take back. (Remember Trump saying he just grabs them [women] by the p---y (vagina)).  Posters on this forum like to point out that Vice President Harris is "Heels Up" Harris.  Seems honesty and exaggeration from both candidates are about the same.  That's a wash.  After you get past the personal attacks, and you look at policy, there are differences.  Abortion, President Trump says he will leave it to the states; Vice President Harris is pro choice.  Seems to me, both candidates are about choice.  President Trump will leave the choice to the states; Vice President Harris wants to go one step further and guarantee that a woman has right to make her own choice regardless of which state she lives in.  The border, President Trump's wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for, didn't happen.   Vice President Harris needs to enforce the laws we have on the books.  Most of America thinks than can be accomplished humanely, i.e., not separating families that have some members who are citizens and others who are not.  We could could go on and on with issues like the economy, trade, foreign wars, the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East conflict, oil vs. clean energy, pipelines, taxes, Social Security, etc., but it will have to be next time.  I need to get back to work.  Some moderates (with a slight lean left) do work.  We are not all on the governement payroll as some on the right would have you believe.  Before I go, one more thing, what does everyone here think about the Cruz v. Allred race?  Politics, sex, and religion...my parents' and grandparents' generations always said, don't discuss them in public.  My children and grandchildren say, let's discuss.  I hate being caught in the middle.  Ha-ha.

You're not wrong anywhere... but the main thing to remember is politics is about getting elected, first and foremost.  Electability is much more important that policies, because IF a candidate with the "right" policies loses, he/she won't be implementing many policies, now will they?

Which candidate your beliefs align with more closely might be important to you, but if you hitch your wagon to a lame horse that you really, really like.... you're not going far.  Sure, we want to hear the politician's policies, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to who can garner the most electoral college votes... and Trump and his followers are out there saying "I don't need Dems.... I don't need Rinos... I don't need Hispanics... I don't need blacks.... I don't need women... I don't even need the Republicans I don't like... if MAGA turns out, I will win, because my policies are better."

That's how you take another big ol' "L" on election day.

I think Cruz should win a race that is closer than it should be.  I'm a little concerned that there will be down-ticket carnage caused by the Presidential dust-up.  Texas is still red, but it won't be for much longer.  The Rs are squandering a huge opportunity to bring home the Hispanic vote for generations, but instead we want to talk about "building walls" and "the largest deportation operation in modern history" if Trump gets elected.  That affects the illegals of course, but it also threatens the legal citizens who know/love people who will be sent away if Trump's plan goes into effect.

Somebody who supports deportation will immediately scream "you know who is in favor of deportations?  Immigrants who are here legally."  But do you know who never actually makes that claim for themselves?  Immigrants who are here legally.  It's always some soon-to-retire white guy with a really red complexion and spittle on the corner of his mouth yelling it out on behalf of the unseen legal immigrants.

From the article:

A veteran who served with Kamala Harris running mate Gov. Tim Walz accused him of embellishing his time in the service and abandoning his unit just before they deployed.

In an interview Wednesday on "The Ingraham Angle," Ret. Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Behrends, who said he was a member of Walz's battalion, scolded the Minnesota governor for misleading the American public about his military career.

His service concluded when he retired from his unit in the Minnesota National Guard right before they deployed to Iraq in 2005, the New York Post reported. The Minnesota National Guard told Fox News Walz's unit was not given deployment orders to Iraq until July and he had put his retirement papers in five to seven  months prior to his retirement in that May 2005.

Asked about Trump running mate Sen. JD Vance's accusation that Walz is guilty of "stolen valor," the National Guard veteran told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that it's "far darker than a lot of people think."

"He's used the rank that he never achieved in order to advance his political career," he said. "I mean, he still says he's a retired command sergeant major to this day, and he's not. He uses the rank of others to make it look like he's a better person than he is."

I've got nothing to do with this, it's a statement from a veteran that served with Walzs.

You stating I am wrong means absolutely nothing, post something that proves this veteran wrong.

Your VP pick is a loser on all counts, he established a covid hotline for neighbors to tell on each other if someone wasn't following the rules.

He does, however, fit right in with your pick for President, lol.

Just ready for all this crap to be over (but know it never will). Ready for high school football games to start and then more importantly, high school basketball. Helps occupy my mind.
