Has anyone had their school's practices cancelled due to excessive heat? I am hearing it's happening more and more lately.

Nope… didn’t happen last year either

You have to get used to the heat no matter how hot. Precautions must be taken but you will have to play in the heat sooner or later. You cannot cancel a game because of heat just reschedule if needed. Play the conditions as well as well as the other team.

Most schools have a plan to handle the heat and will adjust practice times accordingly..once school starts its a little tougher but you can make it work with some creativity

Yes, it's too hot for practice.  I played 18 holes of golf yesterday, from ~8:30 - 12:30, then worked in our garden yesterday afternoon, and it was way too hot for this 72 year old.  So, those youngsters should definitely stay inside and drink Liquid IV or Gatoraid or whatever.

Edit:  There was an good moving tide yesterday morning and evening. Not too hot to fish, but sometimes choices must be made.

Cancelling or moving practice depends on whether or not schools are following the UIL recommendations for the new "Wet Bulb" heat measurement. Some schools are, some aren't.

It isn't policy yet, but I'd expect if UIL is recommending it now, they will be making it policy in the not distant future...

My understanding is it will be "mandatory" in 2025.....

Not sure how they will pice it, but.....
