CardinalBacker Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Trump’s still offering tax cuts we can’t afford in exchange for votes. You can’t “cut tax revenue” your way out of debt, as it’s been proven over and over. The economy gets a temporary shot in the arm, the debt explodes, then inflation happens, then a recession. Quote

We can afford it. Keeping our hard earned money is not the problem. Spending is! How about this: For every dollar in tax cuts, we get three dollars in spending cuts! Which side do you think would be receptive to this? Quote
baddog Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Nothing has ever been taxed into prosperity. Simply put, economy is the circulation of money. Trump addressed all the contributing factors. Harris’ child tax credit does very little, if anything at all, to stimulate. Remember the stimulus package……hello. It’s like pulling the choke to start your mower. Trump has already shown what his tax plans can do, yet the left can only deny it with no plan of their own. It’s so obvious it’s not even funny. First thing that has to be addressed is inflation. If people can’t buy goods, the circulation slows way down. Quote

Neither... because it would mean slashing the military budget, social security, and medicare. The Rs are just as bad as the Ds when it comes to deficit spending. The only thing that they disagree over is how to spend the money that we're borrowing. Quote

First thing that has to be addressed is inflation. If people can’t buy goods, the circulation slows way down. The thing is this... Tax cuts (even Trump's) do work to stimulate the economy.... but the problem is that they're done with deficit spending.... and deficit spending yields inflation. Tax cuts without spending cuts are just a temporary shot in the arm that turns into a net negative. If I go to the Payday loan place this afternoon and get $1000, I can have one heck of a good weekend, but I'm not going to like the next year or two when I'm trying to pay the thing back. You're the kind of person that says, "but it WORKED! We had a good weekend! Let's take out as many of these loans as we can!" Inflation is going on right now... do you realize the cause? It's deficit spending by the federal government. They dumped out tons of cash (and continue to do so) without increasing the tax revenue to offset the higher spending. It ALWAYS happens that way. It's as predictable as the sun rising in the East. Do you know what else would spur the economy besides tax cuts? Just handing everybody big wads of cash via the federal government. BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME EXACT THING. It's a temporary high, creates debt, and ends up pushing the economy downward in short order. Reagan's tax cuts are the reason Bush had to raise taxes... Yes, the economy bumped, but the debt grew at four times the rate of the economy. The numbers don't lie. Quote

Not the same thing at all, a tax cut is keeping MY money, not taking someone else’s money that the government confiscated. But I would expect that from someone that thinks social security and medicare are entitlements. Cut taxes, cut spending, that’s the answer. No one ever does both, that the problem. but, but, but, Trump. Quote

thetragichippy Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Look at all the finance experts in SE Texas🤣 Someone mentioned cutting SS to pay for it. How about we stop forgiving student debt and wind down unemployment to 90 days and you're done. I have some college but never got my degree. I have never needed unemployment because I always found work.....and sometimes it was work I really hated...... jdog90, bullets13, Englebert and 2 others 4 1 Quote

I'd like to see the reduction of handouts as well. if you need medicaid, welfare, SNAP, WIC, etc., you better be putting in at least 30 hours a week at a job or have a legitimate disability or illness. And after a couple of kids, benefits should drop rather than increase with each subsequent kid. quit incentivizing having more children. being an unemployed single mother should not be a career option. "but, but, but, Trump" didn't do that the first time around, and he's said absolutely nothing about doing it this time around. As it stands, he's all about more tax cuts for the rich, no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, and no taxes on social security. But nary a peep about cutting spending. He DOES plan to put tariffs on imports, not admitting that any increase in the cost to bring goods into the country will be passed directly onto the public. China is simply going mark up their goods by 20% and sell them to us at an INFLATED price. Inflated... what word does "inflated" remind me of? Oh, inflation. That's the word I'm looking for. Understanding that trump failed the assignment last time, and has made no mention of doing it right this time, combined with the fact that his business model always seems to involve the bankruptcy courts... I have to ask WHY?????? Because he's the best name-caller ever, and he's buying our votes with promises of lower taxes. Quote

You be sure to vote for Harris, I’m sure she’ll be much more fiscally responsible than Trump. Be sure to reply to this with three paragraphs critical of Trump with no mention of Harris, I’d be shocked if you responded any other way. Quote

Sounds good in theory and all.. but in reality, dumb people are going to keep breeding. So what happens is the unfortunate children get hurt for having dumb parent(s) And with abortion bans, that means an even bigger increase in unwanted or under-cared children with no social safety net Thats a recipe for disaster. Food and healthcare are some of the best investments a country can make for its citizens “Get better parents” is not a solution Quote

When workers lose the ability to control their wages, the middle class suffers for the benefit of the few. Pay inequities now rival those of the Gilded Age and the Roaring Twenties. But want to take food away from kids, that’s just crazy This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Oh, I was batting my eyes like crazy. The waste was astounding, and in many cases local governments are STILL trying to figure out how to spend all of the ARPA funds that were sent their way by Washington in response to COVID. My problem with entitlement spending is that in many cases it’s overdone. Why would a person decide to get a job and buy groceries, knowing they could never afford to eat as extravagantly as they do while abusing the SNAP, EBT, WIC, etc. Your solution is to say “well, pay them enough at McDonald’s so they can afford to eat lobster on week nights and they’ll get jobs.” Wrong… human nature is laziness and greed. If we went back to USDA programs that offered staples (bread, eggs, milk, cheese, peanut butter) instead of cards that can be used to purchase steaks, cokes, snack cakes, etc…. People would go get jobs. We incentivize laziness. If you get knocked up, Kamala will give you $6k for birth, then you get all of the other benefits, plus a bump in your EIC “refund” every spring. We encourage the least capable of supporting kids to have more kids. It’s bananas. We’re the only nation in history whose impoverished are uniformly obese. bullets13 1 Quote
