Jake94,

If you read my entire post

I started with how I was liking the new coaching staff and think they will get this program back on track

Next I pointed out what must be improved for the Bulldogs to make the playoffs

My statement on average LB’ers was correct because that D1 LB’er hasn’t played since the Lumberton game and the other D1 you talked about is a DE

The offensive line is a weak spot and they did not show improvement against Silsbee. It took a very talented RB Thomas about 25 carries to get 100 yards and they were in the backfield all game vs the passing game. They will get better, but a weak spot now

I ended with I hope they do well these next 7 games because they will face 5 teams in district better than Silsbee

There wasn’t any negative comments in that post, simply areas that need improvement

This again..! 🙄😂🐅🏈

He's an edge rusher meaning in a 3-4 scheme he is an outside LB...it's going to be hard for the offensive line to improve when teams are going to line up close to the line of scrimmage when everyone in the stadium knows run is coming...got to get the passing game going at some point but the good news is we'll get back on track next week vs. Splendora

Those are all fair points. Only part I don’t agree with is that Montgomery and Dayton are better than Silsbee at this point. I will give you that PNG, Lake Creek, and Huntsville are though. The question mark in my opinion isn’t who finishes top 3, but who the 4th playoff team will be. 1-3 is easy and 7-8 is easy. 4-6 is the tough one in my opinion. It’s a very tough district. No doubt about it.

Hopefully they can beat Dayton and Montgomery

The question marks are is Nederland’s secondary going to improve and is the passing game going to improve The OL is just not good enough to only have a running game The other question would be is the punter going to be able to catch a snap and IMO Dayton and Montgomery will both be better than Silsbee

I’ve watched all three Nederland games. They’re definitely still finding an identity. I think the O-line is the biggest problem, and blocking in general. A lot of that can be improved with reps. So far there seem to be only Tezino and Thomas who are real playmakers on offense, but running Thomas to the edge every play isn’t going to be that hard for defenses to diagnose. Qb strikes me as a great overall athlete and a good leader. Also, his decision making has improved under the new coach and this staff is better about calling pass plays that work for him.  Anything can happen - especially in Mid-County Madness - and I like Nederland’s chances against Dayton and Montgomery. Dayton seems about as good as Ned right now, and Montgomery’s opponents were 1-9 through three weeks. I haven’t checked if any of that changed in week 4. So, if the season goes how it looks right now with the top three being the top three in whatever order, and Nederland gets at least those four wins they’ll be in the playoffs. Rooting for ya’ll, except on October 25.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
