Separation Scientist Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 BH has exceeded my expectations by going 3-1 intead of 2-2 in predistrict. Now, the records that count are all 0-0. BH lost two very important skill starters very early, RB1 and WR1. We do have depth but those two are just hard to replace. So we start district on a long road trip at Lufkin next week. PAM, Ball and Lufkin are all ranked ahead of BH. This would imply BH is the "fourth seed" at this point. Can BH compete against all the Lufkin athletes at their house? Can BH solve the special team issues? Lufkin is certainly the favorite, but if BH plays a complete game, we can have a chance. Its real now. BHFAN 1
Mrballin42 Posted September 21 Report Posted September 21 I think Lufkin win this one there defense is fast and they get to the ball
PackAttack Posted September 22 Report Posted September 22 With respect to all of our new district opponents, there is much to learn in a new district. You can see there is a lot of good talent and coaching in this district. Everything all the teams have done to this point means nothing now, everyone starts 0-0 . I think there will be some good matchups and looking forward to seeing what Lufkin can accomplish this year. We are no different than anyone else right now, trying to get all the starters back on the field at one time, it hasn't happen all year for us. BH is without some key players too, it's always about your depth and next man up. Got to play with who you have healthy. We are so far North in this district and we play all of our non- district games even further North. Makes things harder for us to keep up with other teams in the district. Lots of respect for Barbers Hill, a good program and with good coaching. They had a decent playoff run last year. Should be a very competitive game. Just hoping my Panthers can protect their home field next Friday night. Rez 1
BHFAN Posted September 22 Report Posted September 22 This should be a good game. From the Lufkin website I think they believe this is a lock, but BH will give them all they want. BH seems to play this area well and it was thought BH would lose to both Forney and Mckinney North the last two years by this area, and both were sent packing. BH and Lufkin have struggled with injuries, but Lufkin has gotten back a key piece to their offense. Lufkin's strength is their defense and BH's strength are in the trenches, so we get to answer the age-old questions of defense wins championships or games are won in the trenches Lufkin has to be the favorite playing at home, but i see a low scoring hard fought game with the first one getting to 21 winning. I think the BH O will be limited as well as the Lufkin O and turnovers will be huge if not the deciding factor in this game, so If BH can hold on to the ball and contain the Lufkin O the Eagles have a chance. Rez 1
PackAttack Posted September 22 Report Posted September 22 Well I help run the Lufkin website and only one person has said anything about this game being a lock, everyone else understands the caliber of play that Barbers Hill will bring to the field. Lufkin has a lot to prove IMO even playing at home.

All of the purple and pack user names get crowded 😀 none the less both teams have a lot on the line Friday with each of us having to play PAM and GB at their houses. No room for error now and although it seems safe to say who the top 4 could be BU and Sterling would love to be the spoilers. I hope to see a great game Friday!

I'm the one on the Lufkin website you're probably referencing. This Lufkin SR class is as good as we've had in a while they have had high expectations since Middle School. I've watched some tape on BH but admittedly I still have more film to watch. My initial thoughts are that Lufkin should win this one but we can't turn it over 4 times like we did against Tyler. Not saying BH isn't capable because they could pull it off but I can also see this one getting out of hand. I like the match-up. We will find out soon enough.

The only way this gets out of hand is turnovers and you definitely will not beat BH with 4 of them. BH is always down played by other teams because we don’t have the D1 talent that others do, but I think you will be surprised with what we put on the field. Like you said we will find out soon enough

I know BH has never been in a district like this and if we all can make it I feel bad for HISD in round 1 🤩

Just in which order will they go is the real question.
Clueless Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 If BH can pass a little bit, it will be close. If BH can’t complete passes and is one dimensional on the ground, we could be in trouble. Rooting for the Eagles though.
Separation Scientist Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 BH will need to play a complete game to compete. If the special teams fumble kicks inside the 10, let our FG's and XP's get blocked, or snap the ball over the punters head again, this game will be over before it starts. BH can play well. They have to put it all together, play by play, for the full 48 minutes. BH cannot take a single play off vs. high ranked Lufkin. Go Eagles!
Clueless Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 I went and watched film on Lufkin that was available to watch, and it appears that they have a shifty, running back, speedy, and athletic wide receivers, and a big physical defensive line. This will be a true test for BH offensive line, and defensive backs. This should get us ready for the playoffs and the caliber of teams we would face 2nd round and beyond. Separation Scientist 1

He has been calling Panther games for 16 years. I never listen to him except for Basketball games, because I go to all the football games. Some people really like him, I have to turn him down on lower volume to watch game highlights. He is definitely an original. Crawford and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2

BHFAN Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 It’s game time eve folks and can’t wait to see what the Eagles bring to Lufkin! I believe the coaching staff will have a good game plan and the team ready. This is going to be a good one! BH has to pressure their QB’s to keep them uncomfortable and come in with a balanced offense which means someone is going to have to step up! Mr. Morton can’t do it all and there’s too much film now, defenses are going to be focused on him.

Our starting QB has not started a single game all year , he played about 2 quarters last week for the first time. Our WR Coutee has started at QB all year, he will be back at WR this week. Johnson will get his 1st start. There is a lot more to worry about with Lufkin than the QB.
